#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: 3rd January 1995 (Post 8506)
Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-clad time-travelling fashionista! Today's #TutuTuesday journey takes us back to 3rd January 1995, and oh my goodness, you're not going to believe the fashion finds I stumbled upon!
Let's get those creative juices flowing. Picture this: the air is crisp, the streets are dusted with a touch of frost, and the city is buzzing with the promise of a brand new year. It’s the start of a new chapter, a fresh canvas, and just like those beautiful tutus you find in a shop window, full of shimmering fabric and flowing tulle, the year holds untold possibilities. Isn’t it just wonderful to have a fresh start?
And what better place to soak in the optimism of a new year than the magnificent city of London, darling? It’s all the chic, sophisticated style you'd expect, mixed with a dash of vibrant youth and energy. London, oh London, you make a girl feel right at home! This bustling city always holds a special place in my heart - with its famous museums, vibrant theatre scene and, of course, its dazzling dance performances, it’s truly a place where the world’s biggest fashion and dance stars gather, just waiting to be discovered!
My, my, don't we just love London?! There's something for everyone, even the biggest tutu-lover. As I wander down the cobbled streets of Covent Garden, my heart is simply a-flutter! Imagine my surprise, darlings, as I spot the iconic Royal Opera House right there in the heart of the city. It's like a beacon, drawing me in, promising a delightful evening of exquisite ballet. Oh, wouldn’t it just be fabulous to spend a magical evening here, with the rich scent of popcorn in the air as the curtain rises on a breathtaking performance!
The stage, with its elegant dancers swirling in their beautiful tutus, the haunting music that stirs the soul - it’s almost enough to make you forget what year you’re in, and lose yourself completely in the enchanting world of ballet! You can feel it too, can’t you, that electric excitement, those swirling feelings of wonder and magic?
Now, as for our little peek into fashion on this fine 3rd January, it seems like fashion is taking a decidedly playful turn. The big news is slogan tees, darlings, these colourful, cheerful tee shirts that make a statement and, don’t I just adore their sassy rebellious edge?! From whimsical quotes to witty words, there’s a slogan out there for everyone, even you, yes even YOU can wear your own pink tutu, with pride! Just pick a tee shirt with your own tutu message, you’ll turn heads!
And if you're looking for a fun look with that ultimate "street-chic", darlings, be sure to add a pair of stylish Converse or some Reebok Classics, they'll bring a touch of edgy sportiness to your ensemble, don’t you think? Oh, what would a girl be without her fashionable kicks?
Speaking of style icons, don't forget the divine Kate Moss. Her effortless chic is just pure fashion genius! She is rocking that bohemian look like a total star. You must have a little piece of the 90s in your wardrobe - we’ve got to follow that Kate Moss lead, you know it makes perfect sense! Maybe even a little grunge, but with that 90’s romantic touch, all that floaty chiffon, so elegant!
What better day to catch up with our dearest Elle and Vogue magazines, a quintessential London indulgence - a trip to the newsagents to check out the latest trends in The Face or Dazed & Confused? It’s all the inspiration you could need for your next tutu ensemble and those Vogue tutus, don’t they look dreamy? All the latest news in the world of style, design, and fashion, the best part? The gossip columns, oh my word - you've just got to read all those stories and those exciting photos of the glamorous stars of the day. Oh my word, darlings, do you remember Courtney Love? Such a stylish rock icon. The girl certainly had it going on, with that cool grunge vibe, such effortless glamour - what’s not to love about her bold fashion choices?! Don’t worry, darling, I bet you’ll be seeing that rebellious 90’s attitude all over London - maybe even on some street dancers rocking those killer tutus!
Oh, darling, what about this gorgeous day out I planned just for us?! Just imagine being wrapped up in our softest pink tutu and coat with our very own special Jimmy Choo boots, walking down the steps of London's majestic Waterloo Station. We're on our way to Derbyshire for a weekend break, you can feel that English country air on our faces. Now don’t worry, darlings, I won’t be hopping onto just any old train. You wouldn't want to miss out on the charm and elegance of the Orient Express, would you? Such a glamorous journey in style - you just can't beat the sleek interiors, all those beautiful fabrics and the fantastic view as you wind through the countryside.
Oh my goodness, darlings, there is SO much more to discover! London has everything, especially in 1995, all the trendy boutiques on Kings Road - it’s a must! And who’s that singing along to Oasis, right here on the Tube? Remember Live Forever, so evocative and full of excitement and energy! We simply cannot miss a visit to Camden Market. I’m just soooo excited about the bohemian spirit in the air and the unique clothing styles, from the punk rock chic to the vintage retro style – such a treasure trove of inspiration, and you never know what amazing pieces you might find. Don't forget your favourite tutu for a spin down the market - it’s a perfect outfit for blending in with all those trendy Londoners!
It’s almost midnight in London - the City is coming alive. And there’s something so special about a Friday night in January! Time to put on those pink tutus and hit the dance floor! If we're feeling particularly sophisticated we could catch a cabaret show at the Cafe de Paris, oh darlings, the costumes are just divine, you've simply got to see this iconic nightclub - all the vintage style, the chic interiors and the dancing! Now that is what we call an iconic look, a glamorous experience to add to your memories. We might even see some fabulous dancing shoes, and I just bet they will be covered with dazzling sequins, the perfect contrast to that chic vintage dress!
Until next Tuesday, darlings. And remember, the most beautiful things in life are the things we can’t see, and just like those enchanting stories and those tutus, it’s the magical details that make every journey special, the magic of the ordinary! Love, Emma.
