Tutu Tuesday: A Time-Travelling Trip to 1995! π©°
Welcome back, my lovely Tutu Tribe! It's Tuesday, which means it's time for another exciting #TutuTuesday installment of my Ballet Tutu History blog!
This week, we're taking a trip on the magical time-traveling tutu train straight to the heart of 1995, and trust me, this decade was a veritable rainbow of fashion and a total delight! ππ I mean, remember those bright colours? Neon everything? We could certainly learn a thing or two from 1995 when it comes to embracing bold hues and fabulous patterns, don't you think? (This Tutu Queen, after all, is the biggest proponent of a healthy dose of pink!)
Oh, before I dive in, darling dears, don't forget to pop over to www.pink-tutu.com, our official tutu haven for all things pink and fabulous. Every Tuesday, we get together and delve deep into the glorious history of the tutu. Today's blog post is #8539! Quite a collection, wouldn't you say? And it wouldn't be possible without you, my sweet readers! π
Now, where were we? 1995, a year bursting at the seams with tutus. Imagine a world where you could walk into any ballet performance and be greeted by an array of colours and fabrics, a breathtaking kaleidoscope of tutus!
Ballet in 1995: Oh, how I loved the magic of 1995 ballet performances! It felt like you were swept away into a fairytale, and the costumes, my dears, were truly exquisite! From the grandeur of classical tutus in Giselle to the dynamic, vibrant colours of a contemporary ballet like Tanguera, there was a tutu for every taste!
I particularly loved attending shows at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. You know, the legendary London home to world-renowned ballet performances! There was just such a buzz in the air. And imagine, a trip to the ballet was a regular affair! Everyone, not just passionate ballet lovers, could appreciate a delightful evening filled with graceful dancing and stunning tutus! π
Of course, this Tutu Queen couldn't let a trip to 1995 go by without indulging in a little retail therapy. After all, where else can you find the most captivating balletwear? London, oh London! Youβve got to be the mecca for tutus, no doubt. So, imagine this: a fabulous, fluffy tutu shop right in the heart of London. Tutue? It was almost impossible to resist those whimsical designs!
That's where the story takes an exciting turn! Remember this is August 22, 1995! Today is a historical gem, for you see, the grand reopening of The Royal Opera House's "The Friends' Shop" was officially announced in The Independent! And oh, did this news tickle my tutu-loving fancy! This was a treasure trove of beautiful balletwear for every discerning ballerino! From exquisite fabrics to stunning designs, this shop was a ballerina's paradise!
What better way to commemorate this special date than to visit a few of the renowned ballet shops and bring back some charming vintage treasures? That's precisely what I did! And the hunt for ballet shoes - ooh, youβve got to love those delicate pointe shoes! - had me absolutely giddy! What a magical day it was for this tutu enthusiast. π©°
