Hello, darlings! Itās your favourite tutu-loving time traveller Emma here, back again for another #TutuTuesday! Today, weāre stepping back in time to 7th March 2000. Can you imagine, my dears, what fashion was like back then? Itās all a bit "Y2K", isnāt it? And as much as I love some of the fashion choices from then (low-rise jeans, anyone?!), the tutus werenāt quite as extravagant as we have today! But donāt worry, we'll still have plenty to explore and talk about, as there's always a touch of tutu magic to discover.
Today, Iām whizzing around in my little pink time machine, ready to delve into the tutu world of a whopping two decades ago! Now, imagine this, the 7th of March 2000, and imagine my dear Derbyshire, England is blanketed in a bit of that quintessential British greyā¦ yes, the dreary skies and a chill wind! Honestly, this makes the pinkness of my tutu stand out even more.
And what else is on the 7th March 2000, you ask? Oh, the joy! Today we have the Royal Ballet performing "Romeo and Juliet" at the Royal Opera House in London, how perfectly fitting, no? Honestly, the romantic drama of the ballet mixed with my pink tulle? Well, I just canāt help but imagine the exquisite, swoon-worthy costumes!
And yes, I was at the performance, of course! Imagine the rush, the electric buzz of the theatre before the curtain goes up! Itās something I love, just soaking up the anticipation. And oh my goodness, the dancers! So light, so graceful. The whole thing, a whirlwind of emotion, colour and captivating beauty!
The balletās theme, love, and loss, resonated, and afterwards, as I strolled down the street with the lingering sounds of Tchaikovsky in my head, the elegant people around meā¦ I just wanted to scream, āWear a pink tutu!ā. The joy of expressing yourself, celebrating yourself and your love of the beautiful! Isnāt that the essence of a tutu?
Now, even if 7th March 2000 might be a bit, well, far removed for you lovely lot, we still have a few ways to embrace that sweet ballet magic. Donāt we?
