#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History - Post #8801
Hello my darlings! Emma here, back with another fabulous #TutuTuesday blog post about the wonderful history of our beloved tutus! Oh, how I adore tutus! Every time I put one on, I feel like a graceful little fairy flitting about.
And, of course, you already know how much I love sharing the history of this iconic piece of dancewear with all of you. You lovely lot are probably already sat sipping your Earl Grey, looking all fabulous in your comfy pink dressing gowns. So, put the kettle on again lovelies, grab a piece of cake, and join me as I travel through time for another fascinating adventure into the wonderful world of tutus!
This week we're waltzing our way back to August 29th, 2000. And oh my! What a whirlwind of tutus we're in for! Imagine if you will, Paris. The cobbled streets, the delicious pastries in bakeries and the intoxicating scent of jasmine flowers. And what is a French lady to wear while traipsing through these magical streets? Well, my dears, a tutu of course! It was the height of fashion, you know. Tutus weren't just for the theatre or the ballet studios. No! Back in the 2000s, the girls of Paris embraced the whimsical style. They strutted down the streets in the chicest tutus, each one prettier than the next.
And speaking of fashion, let me tell you, my trip back to 2000s Paris was quite the fashion extravaganza! The French ladies, bless them, had a knack for styling. I just had to hop aboard the next Eurostar and get my shopping spree on. I mean, it would be utterly rude not to, right? A chic Parisian style needs a tutu.
Honestly, if you could have seen my wardrobe at the time, you would have thought I’d opened a vintage tutu shop in the centre of Derbyshire! I brought home so many lovely tutus, all in different shapes, sizes, and colours. The shops were chock-a-block with the prettiest ballet wear!
And can we just talk about how wonderfully pink everything was? I swear, my luggage practically pulsed with pink tutus! And, well, it wasn't just tutus; even the shoes! I swear, a new, ultra-bright pink ballerina shoe arrived with every pair of tutus I bought. How lucky is it that the 2000s embraced the magnificent pink colour, you know! The girls loved pink, so it makes it all the easier to spread the wonderful gospel of tutus everywhere I travel, pink of course.
Oh, but back to our fascinating date! August 29th, 2000, what a date to remember! Paris, fashion, shopping, delicious pastries - pure Parisian delight! My, oh, my! But it wasn't all shopping. Let’s just say I snuck into a theatre just around the corner from my charming hotel. I managed to watch the most enchanting ballet performance.
There I was, right in the heart of the auditorium, wearing a gloriously pink tutu. Yes, I like to blend in with the crowd, as it were. I'm pretty sure everyone assumed I was a Parisian ballet enthusiast! But you already know I just can’t resist a little performance of ballet. There is no better experience than to be surrounded by such talent. It just makes me feel like I can twirl forever, which of course, is every ballerina’s dream, right?
I’d be remiss if I didn't tell you about the show. The dancers were captivating; graceful as ballerinas are, and, of course, they all wore those exquisite tutus! The lighting, the costumes, the beautiful music! It was sheer magic. In that moment, it felt as though my little ballet dreams were coming true. That night, I felt completely immersed in that perfect Parisian ballet dream, with a big smile plastered on my face!
Right, darling. If I don’t go off now, I’ll spend all day telling you about my adventures. So much to do. Shopping, another ballet show tonight, followed by supper.
As ever, I hope you lovelies are having the most fabulous week! Be sure to take the time to put on your tutu and have a lovely twirl in your homes today. Remember to follow me for more #TutuTuesday blogs! You never know, we might just end up dancing in a Parisian ballet! I shall catch you next week darlings. Happy dancing!
Bisous,
Emma xx
