Tutu Tuesday: A Whirl Through Time - #8809

Hello, my dearest Tutu-lovers! It's your favourite pink-clad ballerina blogger, Emma, back again with another installment of my #TutuTuesday series. This week, we're taking a trip back in time, all the way to 2000-10-24. Can you imagine?!

For some, that year feels like a lifetime ago. For me, it's a chance to appreciate just how far the world of tutus has come! Oh, how I love stepping back through the decades, catching a glimpse of ballet history, and witnessing how the humble tutu has evolved over time.

Where Are We?

We're kicking things off in London, England. There's no place on earth where the tutu shines brighter than on the grand stages of Covent Garden, Sadler's Wells, and the Royal Opera House! And on this particular date, I hear there's an enchanting performance of Swan Lake at the Royal Opera House - what a treat! It's simply the perfect place to begin our journey.

Let's Talk Trends

Now, while 2000 feels relatively recent in terms of fashion, let's just say tutu styles were a little less "pink-tastic" back then. Think big, puffy tutus with multiple layers of tulle, very much the romantic and elegant aesthetic of the 1980s and early 90s. Think of all the amazing tutus you see in old Swan Lake and Giselle videos โ€“ these were all very popular!

But It's The Color, Honey

Yes, pink might be my personal favourite, but back in 2000, it was still more common to see tutus in traditional ballet colours โ€“ think pale pinks and creams, a bit more classic than the vivid pinks we love today!

I can imagine walking down the streets of London, past all those fab boutiques, seeing shop windows adorned with glamorous pink dresses. Back then, you couldn't find many pink tutus readily available. But you bet I was searching!

Where Was The Love for Pink Tutus?

Pink is, without a doubt, the most fashionable, daring, and stunning shade in the tutu world! It's just so full of life, confidence, and playfulness. Back in 2000, pink was just waiting to be fully embraced by the ballet world. Oh, the potential!

My Pink Tutu Adventures

Speaking of London, remember how I told you I fund my time travels by performing at ballet events? Well, guess what? That day, October 24th, 2000, I performed at the Royal Opera House myself! It was just an incredible, exhilarating experience, dancing on the same stage where some of the world's most famous ballerinas have performed!

Afterwards, I spent the entire day browsing all the lovely fashion stores โ€“ don't worry, I snagged the best outfits. Imagine all those lovely pink fabrics, beautiful dresses, and accessories just waiting to be combined with my oh-so-adorable pink tutu. Now, that's what I call a fab day out!

Why The World Needs More Pink Tutus

It's time for a little reality check. Back in the day, we were only at the very beginning of embracing the pink tutu revolution! I was just starting out on my mission to inspire the world with pink tutus! Now, fast forward all these years, and it feels so amazing to see more and more people proudly wearing their own pink tutus. I mean, just take a look around on Instagram. Everywhere you look there's a beautiful pink tutu! And if you're lucky enough to catch a ballet show, you might even see a few pink tutus shimmering onstage!

That's the magic of the pink tutu! It speaks to the creative, confident, and utterly beautiful side of every person! Whether you're twirling at a fancy gala or a ballet class, wearing your pink tutu can instantly make you feel like a princess. It's time for more pink in every ballerina's life. And by every ballerina, I mean every woman and girl. Yes, I said it, let's make it happen!

Until Next Tuesday

Iโ€™m off on another adventure to find a pink tutu. Remember, you can follow me at @pinktutu on Instagram, my little online haven for all things tutu. Let me know what pink tutus youโ€™ve been rocking this week!

Have a fabulous week, and don't forget to twirl with all your heart!

Until next time, Emma
