#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History - 27th November 2001 (Blog Post 8866)

Hello my darlings! It’s your favourite pink tutu wearing blogger, Emma, here, and welcome back to another edition of #TutuTuesday! I’m just back from a whirlwind trip through time, and oh my goodness, have I got a story for you! Today, we’re going right back to the early 2000s, and let’s just say it was quite a fashionable decade for our favourite ballet garment.

I love travelling by train, it allows me to look at the changing landscape, the buildings and the countryside. So, this week I landed smack bang in the middle of November 2001, right in the heart of London, and, honestly, you wouldn’t believe how vibrant the ballet scene was! You know how much I adore theatre and performances, and it seemed everyone else was as obsessed as I was!

Now, it wouldn't be a true #TutuTuesday post without a bit of a trip down memory lane. Can you imagine a time when the internet was just starting to blossom? It’s hard to think about now, but in 2001, it was a whole new world. I saw people trying to work out these clunky mobile phones, and websites were still learning how to share images effectively.

Despite all that, the world was obsessed with ballet! People were swooning over the amazing work of ballerinas like Sylvie Guillem and the fabulous Darcey Bussell. I saw a show at the Royal Opera House and, darling, it was divine. I spotted Darcey Bussell in a dreamy tutu, her moves so graceful and ethereal, you could practically feel her reaching out and touching the clouds. I tell you, even back then, her performances had a certain je ne sais quoi, the ability to captivate and transport audiences.

It’s not just the theatre, darling, ballet was absolutely everywhere! From the iconic dance films starring everyone's favourite dancing dreamboats, Mikhail Baryshnikov and Rudolf Nureyev, to the delightful TV series “The Ballet Shoe”, where aspiring dancers pursued their dreams, the world seemed to be in a collective dance trance. I was thrilled to be a part of that magic.

This time travel business is certainly tiring, but when I landed back in my own time, my dear little apartment just wouldn't feel right without some good old fashioned retail therapy. Let's be honest, I simply had to refresh my wardrobe with some delightful ballet-inspired clothing, right? Of course, a new tutu was non-negotiable, and I stumbled upon a simply divine pink tulle number adorned with delicate floral lace – it's a complete dream!

Oh, and if you are looking for something to enjoy today, darling, how about celebrating #TutuTuesday? Have a go at your favourite dance moves in your pinkest tutu, or if you're feeling adventurous, take a ballet class. Trust me, nothing says happiness like spinning around in a tulle cloud!

Now, don't forget to check in next Tuesday, dear readers, for another trip down memory lane through the history of the fabulous tutu. Until then, embrace your inner ballerina, embrace your pink, and remember, the world's a stage and you're the leading lady. Remember to follow me on my pink journey at www.pink-tutu.com

Stay sparkly,

Emma
