#TutuTuesday: A Trip Down Tutu Lane - Blog Post #8951

Hello my fellow tutu enthusiasts! It's Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood pink tutu advocate, ready to whisk you away on another enchanting journey through the captivating history of the ballet tutu.

This Tuesday, my lovelies, I’m going to take you back to a glorious summer’s day in the year 2003. Picture it: the sun is shining, the air is abuzz with the sound of excited chatter and children playing in the park. The sky is a brilliant blue, and it's just the kind of day that makes you want to dance in a bright pink tutu. Speaking of pink tutus…

I have a little secret to tell you. This week I have used my magical time-traveling abilities (that’s right, my friends, it’s true - I do indeed travel through time. It's all thanks to the power of the tutu!), and found myself waltzing my way back to July 15th, 2003, right here in Paris. The city is absolutely humming with life! It's always exciting to pop in on Paris - such a romantic and beautiful city!

Before we hop back in time and learn more about the tutus of 2003, I want to tell you about how I’m making my way through time as a glamorous time-traveling ballerina blogger. It's not just about tutus, you know, although the tutus are most definitely my raison d'être. You know I have an undying passion for tutus, but the ballet world is full of wonder! I go to ballet performances - everything from street performances in the parks and theatres. There’s always something exciting to watch! Then there's shopping, all that glitz and glamour! Oh, and I've managed to make my living from this too!

Since I am time traveling I had to find a way to make ends meet. And being a performer with a special passion for dance and performance myself, it felt only right that I should dance my way through time and fund my adventures with dance performances. You can see me, dancing the day away in pink tutus (naturally!), earning my time traveling bread and butter by giving delightful dance performances.

When I’m not doing a performance, I am shopping and travelling - especially train travel! I find it very satisfying, don’t you? The clicking and chugging of a train is the most calming and inspiring of sounds for me! But when I am not travelling by train, or watching a dance performance, or performing my own dazzlingly lovely, ballet shows, you can bet I'm searching out beautiful, enchanting vintage tutus! You see I collect vintage tutus of all shapes and sizes and from different periods and regions. They are an absolutely fascinating insight into history and into fashion and dance through the ages.

It's this collection of tutus that really started my obsession. Now, back to our fascinating tour of tutus in history.

I’m a ballerina with a passion for all things tutu! It is this passion that led me to create a blog called www.pink-tutu.com. Here I’m spreading my love of all things ballet tutu. Here at www.pink-tutu.com you’ll find not just beautiful ballet tutu photos and information on where to buy them, but all my tutu discoveries and of course #TutuTuesday: A Trip Down Tutu Lane. So you're reading #TutuTuesday, the blog which started in the first place.

Right, let’s jump back to July 15th 2003 and take a closer look at the fabulous tutus of 2003. I have always believed tutus can give women and girls confidence and poise. In the early 2000s there was a whole lot of interest in tutus. We were very inspired by the 1950s - full of vibrant, playful colours and designs - everything pink, yellow, blue, red and of course - my favorite - pink!

Tutus were no longer solely a stage or costume creation. They became much more mainstream! We started to see ballerinas embracing a bolder, more fun, exciting style - a way of living - wearing tutus and dancing everywhere they went - to parties, weddings, festivals! Tututastic, right?! And now with ballet street coming to the forefront it feels like tutus are truly taking over! It is so lovely to see people getting their ballet groove on!

Back in 2003 the ballet world was thriving. I even had the chance to see "Giselle", a real classic ballet, performed at the Opéra de Paris! What a performance - I had so much fun watching those elegant ballerinas swirl in their breathtakingly beautiful costumes. I just knew that the tutus they were wearing were just going to make this performance an amazing success!

That was just a small glimpse of 2003. You know my dearest friends that a Tutu is so much more than a dance outfit, it is an expression of ourselves, our femininity, joy and self-confidence! When I wear a tutu, it just makes me feel so feminine, it really boosts my self-esteem.

The whole tutu phenomenon really reminds me of why I want to get everybody dancing in tutus! Tutus can give everybody a boost and make everyone feel empowered! They make people smile, feel beautiful and look fantastic! A Tutu will make you feel fabulous - no doubt!

It's a fashion trend that has endured for decades, and continues to be an influential force even in 2003. I feel so much love and appreciation for these iconic little pieces! So go out there, darling readers, twirl in your beautiful pink tutus and celebrate the power of this wonderful little creation that is, well, the tutu!

TutuTuesday,

Emma, Your time-traveling tutu enthusiast!
