TutuTuesday #9014: The Twirling Through Time of Tutu History (28th September 2004)

Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, your resident Tutu Twirler, and welcome back to another #TutuTuesday! Today we're taking a trip through time, ladies, back to 28th September 2004! Can you believe it’s already been 19 years?! Goodness me! That’s 19 years of tutus, twirling, and everything fabulous!

Oh, it was a rather grand week in the world of ballet! Now, let's rewind the clock and delve into some of the delightful happenings of this specific Tuesday!

I’m sure everyone was watching the wonderful Russian Bolshoi Ballet this week, at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City! Imagine that, my darlings! Not just a fancy ballet in a city that embraces the dance. Can you just picture those stunning costumes with those fabulously long tutus, all twirling, spinning, and expressing stories through movement - what a glorious, vibrant vision! I just can't imagine what kind of glorious tutu costumes they had! Maybe something incredibly frilly and dramatic!

If that wasn’t enough, the National Ballet of Canada was performing a masterpiece of ballet by Sir Frederick Ashton, ‘La Fille Mal Gardée,’ in Toronto! The delicate movement of their ballet costumes! The perfectly-fitted shoes and all that elegance! Can you even imagine, darlings, being able to dance like that! What dreams!

And of course, here in the UK, we're busy embracing the exciting new season for ballet! I’m sure you all watched, on this lovely September Tuesday, The Royal Ballet performing Swan Lake at The Royal Opera House! That magical swan, dancing beautifully on the stage! I just adore swan lake. The contrast between the white swan and the black swan! A classic. There’s something so beautiful about tutus, I can't explain it. They are a symbol of dance, grace, and just sheer fun! Don't you agree?

It was certainly a fabulous week in ballet! I’ve already purchased my ticket for The Royal Ballet.

You might ask why, oh, why does Emma time travel? Why are you on a mission to get everyone in a pink tutu? Well, as much as I love dancing and fashion, there's more to it, darlings! My time traveling is about making the world a little bit more magical and colourful. What's better for that than a bit of sparkle and grace? That’s how my Derbyshire heritage has rubbed off on me, the lovely country folk! We love to have a good time!

Think about it, my darlings! Pink tutus represent the playful, joyful side of life. Why just limit it to ballerinas? Think about those days when all your friends got together for a tea party and played dress up. Now I want you to imagine that all dressed up in tutus and pink, you’re whirling around a village in the Cotswolds, singing songs in perfect harmony as you all enjoy your high tea. Pure heaven, don’t you think?!

And what's better than sharing the joy? So far, my little missions haven't done anything too crazy in the timeline, and we’ve managed to ensure tutus continue to have a happy presence throughout history. I’m not sure, in a hundred years from now if they’ll still be around, but if I do my best I’m sure the trend won’t die! I mean, the world could be a more fun place, full of sparkles, don’t you think?! And where does one find sparkle better than a tutu? So, there you have it, darlings, that’s my passion! And remember to never lose your sparkle, wear that pink tutu loud and proud and dance on my darlings!

That's all for this week, my dear readers. Remember, keep twirling, keep smiling, and keep your tutus beautiful.

Until next #TutuTuesday,

Emma xoxo
