Tutu Tuesday: Ballet Tutu History! (Post #9050)
Hello darlings! Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com! It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time to get twirling! 🩰
This week, we’re whisking ourselves back to a magical time: 7th June 2005! Oh my, can you imagine, the sheer, unadulterated wonder of a ballet performance in that year? It must have been simply exquisite!
Today’s history lesson, darlings, is all about the ballet tutu, but instead of the usual story of the first tutu, which is simply far too boring, let's delve into what makes a tutu so... Tutu-licious! I’m thinking, of course, of colour. Oh, the wonderful colours of tutus throughout history! Imagine dancing the day away in a magnificent emerald green tutu, feeling like a graceful mermaid, or a bright coral tutu, like a vibrant tropical fish! I am positively dying to explore the colours of yesteryear!
Right, let’s delve back in time. I’ve packed my suitcase with a brand new blush pink tutu (the perfect colour for my trip!), my vintage handbag, and my travelling spectacles! My first stop? London!
Now, imagine with me. We arrive at Victoria station in the midst of a bustling London day. The streets are alive with the clattering of horses, the honking of cars, and the shouts of shopkeepers. My eyes, however, are glued to the stunning dresses worn by the elegant ladies on the street! And what's this? My very own pink tutu doesn't feel at all out of place amongst these fashion-forward individuals. We're making a statement, darlings!
Let's hop aboard the Underground! It's a truly splendid way to see the city, and an absolute joy when compared to a stuffy carriage. (You'd be surprised at how many horses and carriages you still see even in this 'modern' 2005! How delightfully retro!) And while we’re riding, I’ll be dreaming of seeing a ballet performance at the Royal Opera House! This legendary venue!
I can practically see the opulent stage, alight with sparkling chandeliers, and the beautiful dancers gliding effortlessly across the polished floor in their beautiful costumes. Can you imagine the splendour? And all around them, hundreds of admiring eyes are taking in every twist and turn! What a dream!
We've arrived, darlings, at Covent Garden, the home of this majestic theatre, and you know what? Royal Ballet is currently performing their world renowned production of "Giselle". Oh, I love this show! Can you even imagine the gorgeous, flowy white tutus these lovely ladies would be wearing? Such delicate grace and beauty. What better story than one of a young maiden in love with a noble prince and a bitter forest spirit? Simply enchanting!
Perhaps we can find some of that beautiful tutus from the show on the London streets! My imagination is running wild with the possibility of seeing exquisite fabric, flowing through the air in perfect harmony. That sort of elegance that simply transcends time! Who can resist a piece of true Tutu history! I must find myself one of those exquisite tutus from Giselle, in the pinkest shade possible, of course! I simply must add it to my collection. And who knows? Perhaps I will even spot some modern tutus! (Of course, pink tutus would be my first choice, always!). Perhaps something fluffy, frilly, and full of vibrant colour!
This adventure, darling, is all about exploring the beauty and magic of tutus. From the delicate designs of Giselle’s world to the bold creations of today, the tutu will always be a symbol of grace, wonder and, well, pink!
We have been sparkling with tutu-licious historical insight and a whole heap of fabulous pink tutu loving goodness, as we have been diving head first into a dazzling 2005 balletic dream.
That's all from me for today! Have a wonderful Tutu Tuesday, and make sure you check in next week for more of your #TutuTuesday fix, right here on www.pink-tutu.com, darlings! I'm off to dance! 🩰 💖
