#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: Post 9081 - A Trip Back to 2006!
Hello my dearest tutu-lovers!
Welcome back to another enchanting edition of my #TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History blog. This week, we're hopping on the time-traveling train and taking a delightful trip back to the glorious year of 2006! Oh, the memories...
You wouldn't believe the excitement when I arrived in 2006! I swear, everything was just sparkling! The fashion, the music, the energy… all just buzzing with a joy that could rival a finale pirouette!
Now, as you all know, I'm a firm believer that tutus are timeless. But there's just something extra special about the tutus of the early 2000s. Think fluffy layers, romantic tulle, and colours that just sing! It was a true golden age for ballet wear.
Speaking of which, did you know that January 10th, 2006, was a Tuesday? And a very special Tuesday at that! It was the day The Royal Ballet performed "Swan Lake" at the Royal Opera House in London. Can you imagine the thrill of watching such an iconic ballet in a packed theatre, the hush before the music began, the graceful movements, the story unfolding before your eyes! It makes my tutu twirl just thinking about it.
But, my love for the history of the tutu doesn't just stay in the theatres! It flows through the streets, the boutiques, the museums. The beauty of the tutu isn't limited to a stage – it’s an expression, an attitude, a way of life. That's why my motto remains: "Let's make every day a #TutuTuesday!"
Let's take a closer look at the style trends that had the world mesmerised back in 2006! It's a treasure trove of tutus just waiting to be discovered!
Fashionable Favourites:
Tulle: Tulle was the star of the show in 2006. From ballerina-inspired skirts to extravagant party dresses, tulle was everywhere! You'll find me at the boutique near the theatre after a show, buying up all the tulle they have! The dream is to one day have a full-on tulle ball gown, like a princess straight out of a fairytale.
Girly & Fun: The year 2006 was all about embracing femininity and having a little fun with fashion. This means bold colours, playful patterns, and – you guessed it – tutus! There were so many beautiful ballet-inspired outfits for all ages, it made choosing one hard. My favourite was a bright pink and turquoise dress I found in a little vintage store in London, with a tulle tutu underneath. It twirled beautifully, a must-have for my tutu wardrobe!
Tutu Inspiration: I couldn't escape the captivating pull of tutus during my visit to 2006. From playful outfits to chic evening wear, there was an undeniably tutu-inspired vibe in fashion. Even celebrities and style icons were embracing the trend, pairing their chic gowns with tulle skirts and ballet flats. I could totally imagine wearing a sparkling pink tulle tutu for a glamorous evening out. Imagine the photographs!
My Travel Tales:
There's nothing quite like traveling by train for a trip to the theatre. I have a special love for the old fashioned carriage compartments with little tables, they make the journey so much more exciting! You could see the countryside fly by, the villages, the fields... It really puts you in a peaceful, imaginative state. A true way to start any journey with a dash of romance!
A Tutu for Every Occasion
Remember, ladies, there is a tutu for every occasion. We don't have to be on a stage to embrace our inner ballerinas! Whether it’s a casual brunch, a special date night, or just a day of ballet practice, a pink tutu adds a touch of whimsy and fun to every look. It's a celebration of femininity and the magic of dance!
