Tutu Tuesday: A Whirl Through Ballet History – Post #9121

Bonjour mes chĂ©ries! It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind tour of time and bursting to share my latest ballet adventures. I've been zipping about in my trusty pink tutu, and trust me, a pink tutu is always a good idea – it's like a time machine that whispers “en pointe” wherever it goes.

This week, I'm diving into the fascinating history of the ballet tutu, landing smack-bang in the year 2006! Think sparkly tutus and breathtaking ballets
 what could be more delightful?

Fast-Forward to 2006

Now, in the year 2006, tutus were really rocking their stuff. I'm talking beautiful designs, flowing layers, and the occasional flash of contemporary flair. Think the romantic tutu styles, where layers upon layers of tulle floated in ethereal waves, and the super-tight bodices were making waves (literally, waves of envious stares!). And, of course, the shorter tutu was gaining popularity for some more dynamic moves!

To give you a taste of the 2006 dance scene, just think of the iconic “Black Swan” starring Natalie Portman - the beautiful ballet, the dark and dreamy story, and the ethereal tutus – it was truly a moment in time.

Tutustories From The Past

My latest time-travel hop took me to a performance of “The Sleeping Beauty” at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow – imagine me, a pink tutu-wearing whirlwind amongst the ballet aficionados, completely enthralled by the majesty of it all!

But I can’t help myself
imagine a tutus for each sleeping princess: Princess Aurora could wear a luminous pale pink tutu adorned with sparkling diamonds, each one reflecting the light of a thousand tiny suns! The fairy tutus, well, picture these dazzling masterpieces, shimmering with all the colours of the rainbow.

And speaking of tutus I also popped into Paris! The Paris Opera, oh la la... a place for lovers of fashion, dancing, and the magic of a tutu! It was so utterly magical. Just strolling past the historic Garnier Opera House, I was instantly transported back to the grandeur of past performances, where legendary dancers first wowed the world with their exquisite tutus.

Modern Tutus – All the Glam & the Grace!

But here’s a secret, 2006 was all about bold and bright colors for those tutus, just like the fabulous creations I adore.

Remember, a tutu is an art piece! It’s a story in movement, it tells tales of passion and romance, joy and heartbreak, and even sometimes, the battle of good vs evil. I truly believe, the best tutus are the ones that make your heart sing.

And here's something super fun. 2006 saw a “Ballet Gala” on the 17th October, a grand event showcasing the most incredible tutu talent. It's events like these, that help remind everyone how powerful the grace of a dancer can be when it flows and shimmers under the spotlight, just like magic!

Shop the Look

Remember darlings, wearing pink tutus is not just for the professionals. It's about the feeling. I love a Tutu for a shopping spree, or for a cheeky evening out - It just makes everything so much more extravagant. My fave pink tutu online store? You can bet I know where to find the perfect one for your next performance! You can always catch my fashion finds on Instagram too. And if you’re planning a special occasion like a birthday, why not a ballet class in a tutu with all your friends? It's the perfect way to have fun and feel your inner prima ballerina shine.

That's all from me for now! Remember to tune in next week for more Tutu Tuesday adventures! See you soon darling, and until then - *stay twirling!

Emma x
