Tutu Tuesday: #9141 - A Whirl Through History! 🩰🌸

Hello darlings! Welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com for another fabulous Tuesday!

Today, as we embark on a journey through time, we’re turning the clock back to March 6th, 2007 – a date ripe with swirling history and, of course, the ever-present allure of the tutu!

Let me tell you, darling, 2007 was a truly exciting time! Fashion was bold, trends were edgy, and…well, we all still had a soft spot for that fabulous pink tutu, wouldn’t you say?

Now, I’ve been time-travelling with my tutu for a while, but this particular jaunt through history was truly special. Why, you ask? It was all about that incredible Royal Ballet production of Romeo and Juliet, set for March 7th at London’s legendary Covent Garden. I swear, the buzz was electric! It's one of the grandest ballet venues in the world and I just had to be there!

Speaking of buzzing, that brings me to my mission: spreading the gospel of tutus! And believe me, it’s been quite a whirlwind. Last week, I found myself waltzing through 18th-century France, surrounded by the delicate artistry of Marie Antoinette’s court. Oh, the poufy gowns and the frilly trimmings! I was practically swatting away the petticoats, giggling. Let's just say the French haven't yet mastered the grace of a pink tutu!

But this week, dear readers, we’re sticking with the modern world!

This year, 2007, was an absolute feast for the senses! The runway was filled with bold colours and patterns, just screaming to be paired with the right tutu, don't you think? Oh, and let's not forget those amazing fashion bloggers! The internet was buzzing with stylish ensembles, all boasting a touch of vintage charm, and you can't really talk about charm without thinking of ballet tutus, darling! It was practically a match made in fashion heaven!

My love for vintage and all things gorgeous just wouldn't let me settle for anything less than a pink satin tutu for my Romeo and Juliet adventure, with just the right amount of sparkle. I paired it with a fitted black jacket and my favourite pair of sparkly, ankle-strap heels – because, well, a ballerina's got to maintain her chicness even when she’s travelling through time!

But darling, my time-travelling escapades aren't all about me (though the pink tutu does come in handy!), it’s all about the tutu's history, right?

The tutu, it’s been around a lot longer than you’d think, my dear. It was originally more practical, a shorter, fitted version of a dancer’s costume in the late 1800s, allowing for more movement. We see the romantic tulle tutus (the ones we all drool over, my darling!) begin to appear in the late 19th century. That's right, folks, those swishing, frilly creations were originally designed for ballet performances, showcasing those graceful pirouettes and jumps. How dreamy is that?

But oh, darling, tutus don’t just belong on stage!

Their journey took a delightful detour towards the wardrobes of fashion-forward women like Audrey Hepburn (just picture that iconic shot of her swirling around in Funny Face), and eventually, they landed right on our high-street. From stylish street wear to theatrical looks, the tutu continues to mesmerize, bringing joy, flair and a whole lot of drama to everyday lives!

Now, as I sit here in the heart of Derbyshire, where my journey started (a small village where every day feels like an elegant ballet in a lovely park!), I can't help but reflect. You know what's the best part? No matter where you travel in time, darling, whether it’s Victorian London or the bustling streets of New York City in 2007, that magical, frilly, feminine tutu still manages to spin its charm, sparking joy and delight, one twirl at a time.

So, darling, do yourself a favour! Grab your favourite tutu, no matter the colour, put on a sparkly little something, and dance your heart out! And don't forget, #PinkTutuTuesdays are here to stay!

Keep those pirouettes going!

Until next Tuesday,

Emma x
