Tutu Tuesday: The Tutu's Triumphant Journey Through Time! ๐Ÿฉฐโœจ (Post #9149)

Hello my lovely Tutu Twirlers! ๐Ÿ’– It's Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-clad time-travelling ballerina, and guess what? Today, on this gloriously sunny Tuesday, we're delving deep into the world of tutus, all the way back to... May 1st, 2007!

Now, hold onto your bonnets, because we're about to embark on a whirlwind tour of tutu history!

(Let's be honest, who wouldn't want a tutu that could whisk them back in time?)

My adventures this week took me to the vibrant heart of New York City! ๐ŸŽ ๐Ÿ—ฝ Now, you'd think in 2007 they'd be rocking all sorts of avant-garde tutu designs, but surprise, surprise! This year was about the classic, the timeless, and the incredibly graceful. The ballet world was swooning over tulle creations that looked like something straight out of a fairytale.

Tutu trends for this period:

  • The "Romantic" Tutu: Think delicate, wispy, airy. This was a tutu that spoke volumes with its sheer elegance and delicate volume. Just picture it - the dancers swirling with effortless grace as the tulle layers floated around them like gossamer dreams!
  • The "Neoclassical" Tutu: This one's a bit more modern, and by "modern", I mean like, 2007-modern! It still holds onto a classical elegance but it throws in some playful movement with longer, more fluid layers of tulle. Think graceful ribbons flowing with every turn.
  • The "Short, Sweet and Saucy" Tutu: Some of the world's finest ballerinas were dazzling audiences with their sharp movements in short tutus, revealing long, graceful legs that added a touch of playful energy to their performance.

But back to New York, where the city's atmosphere buzzed with a delightful mix of ballet excitement! This May 1st, a vibrant troupe of dancers brought "Giselle" to life on the iconic stage of the New York City Ballet. "Giselle" is an absolute classic, darling, so it only makes sense that this was a perfect occasion to sport a perfectly poised "Romantic" tutu! The layers and layers of tulle flowing around those lithe ballerinas were absolutely mesmerizing!

Now, my trip wasn't just about the stage. You can't possibly be a proper ballerina without exploring the boutiques and fashion houses of the city! ๐Ÿ› In those days, the trends for ballet wear mirrored what you saw on stage. Think soft pastel shades, with accents of sparkle and glitter.

Honestly, even my own wardrobe screamed 2007 ballet fashion! Pink, pink, and more pink was the name of the game! ๐ŸŽ€ But I wasn't just stuck on tutus! Oh no! We had a fabulous selection of lovely leotards, a splash of colour on every body. ๐ŸŒˆ Think "Strawberry Shortcake" meets "Barbie" and you have the fashion look! (We'll definitely revisit the "Rainbow Leotard" look later. Don't you worry.)

Speaking of style, you couldn't have forgotten about the iconic shoes! ๐Ÿฉฐ ๐Ÿ‘  For 2007, the "pointe" of perfection was a simple satin pointe shoe. They had just a hint of pink around the toe and the laces were as delicate as butterflies!

My darling Tutu Twirlers, time travel isn't all glitter and glamour. (Sometimes I need a stiff cuppa!) But the journey into the world of tutus - their beauty, their evolution, the joy they inspire, that's worth every penny and every passing minute.

And now, I'm off to try my luck at winning the "London Ballet Annual Ball Gown Design Contest." The theme? "Tutu Through Time"! Who knows what spectacularly stylish designs will emerge from my sewing room this time!

*(Keep your eyes peeled for more blog posts as I unveil my creation.) *

Until next week, let your spirits soar and keep dancing! ๐Ÿ’–

Emma
