#TutuTuesday: A Trip Back to the Tutu's Past (Post 9158)

Hiya lovelies! It's Emma here, your resident tutu enthusiast, back with another #TutuTuesday journey into the fascinating history of the ballet tutu. Today we're time-travelling to 3rd July 2007. Now, I know what you're thinking – 2007, what a drab date! But hold your horses, darling, because that year was all about change. The tutu scene was blossoming in a big way, and I, of course, had a front-row seat!

The journey began, as always, with a lovely train ride. The air hummed with excitement, the landscape flashing past as I dreamed up outfits. It’s funny, being a time-travelling ballerina, you learn to appreciate the simple joys in life, like watching the world from a train window.

This particular Tuesday, I found myself at a bustling ballet school in the heart of London. I couldn't help but smile; it felt like walking into a whirlwind of passion. Little ballerinas pirouetted and leapt, their eyes bright with dreams of someday gracing the stage. Their tutus, however, were a little more... conservative, shall we say? This was 2007 after all, and the tutus hadn't quite reached their full, glorious, frilly potential!

Still, I admired the girls’ dedication. You can't help but feel inspired surrounded by so much energy! I found myself whisked away on a wave of youthful energy, even doing a little pirouette in the hallway! Now, I have to admit, my little pink tulle number did make a few heads turn. The younger dancers seemed particularly impressed, and the tutus that day held a special kind of magic. Maybe I sparked something that day, ignited a little fire for bold tutus… it would be lovely if, in my own small way, I was a tiny bit responsible for the blossoming love of pink tutus in 2007.

After a morning of inspiring, the rest of the day was pure indulgence. Lunch at Harrods was a dream, followed by an afternoon browsing at the most fabulous boutiques in Knightsbridge. London, darling, London… you never disappoint! Now, let’s be honest, what’s a girl to do after an afternoon of retail therapy but settle into a stunning theatre performance?

That evening, I took a seat at the Royal Opera House, anticipating the grandeur of Swan Lake. My senses buzzed as the music swirled and the lights dipped. Swan Lake, that most beautiful and classic ballet… every time it stirs a thrill in me! As the graceful dancers glided across the stage, their tutus twirling and dancing alongside them, I was enthralled. Those ethereal white tutus, the symbol of a dancer's passion and grace – you just can’t beat them.

However, my attention did waver for a brief moment during the intermission. It was then I spotted a stunning fuchsia tutu shimmering in the theatre lobby. It was almost an afterthought, an exclamation mark to a truly magical evening. It was then that I realised... the tutu revolution was well underway! That vibrant colour spoke of a future where tutus were about embracing all shades of bold and beautiful.

After the performance, I felt buzzing with inspiration. London, 2007, I bid you a fond farewell, knowing you’ll never forget my little pink tutu – just like you will never forget this truly vibrant, evolving time in ballet history. You see, darlings, tutudom isn’t just about fancy outfits - it’s about dreams, and how they evolve, shimmer and change, just like the world around us. It’s about finding your own style and embracing the magical potential of this beautiful form of expression!

And as for me, well, my journey continues… my pink tutu packed and ready to embark on another thrilling, sparkly, and absolutely fabulous adventure in time. See you next #TutuTuesday!
