#TutuTuesday: A Whirlwind Through Time! (Post #9160)
Hello my darling tutus! It's Emma here, your pink tutu-loving guide to all things sparkly and twirly! This Tuesday, we're taking a trip down memory lane, back to a time when tutus were even more popular than they are now... Can you believe it? Prepare to be amazed, because we're heading back to 17 July 2007!
I travelled by train, of course, and as usual, I caused a stir with my pink tulle dream. The carriage was filled with a chorus of "Oh, look, it's a ballerina!" and "That's a truly divine tutu!" I love the way my outfits brighten everyone's day - spreading the love for pink tutus is my life's mission, after all.
But let's get back to our topic, shall we? 2007. It's an era bursting with ballet-tastic fashion.
The Tutus of 2007:First off, tutus were everywhere! Not just in ballet studios, darling, but on the catwalk, on the high street, even in your granny's craft shop! This wasn't the fussy, classical tutu we associate with Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake or Giselle. 2007 was all about modern, playful designs. Think layered tulle, asymmetric skirts, and vibrant colours. They were flirty and fun, with plenty of sequins and embellishments to make a statement.
My favourite discovery was a delightful boutique filled with the most enchanting tutus I'd ever seen! They were like miniature rainbows, exploding with colour and light. They were designed with ruffles, ribbons, and tiny, twirling embellishments that captured the very essence of ballet. I was tempted to buy the entire stock and adorn everyone in my little Derbyshire village!
And who can forget the pop princess trend? Remember how all the big stars were sporting ballerina-inspired dresses on the red carpet? From Britney to Beyonce, every pop diva was flaunting her tutu moment, making it the must-have accessory of the decade.
A Ballet Wonderland! This trip took me to a spectacular performance of "Swan Lake" at the Royal Opera House, and what a truly magical experience it was! The ballerinas were absolutely divine, gliding across the stage in their shimmering, ethereal tutus. The delicate elegance of their movement, the music, the entire atmosphere, it was a dream come true.
Then, there was this incredible exhibition about Ballet Shoes I stumbled upon. From the delicate slippers of Marie Taglioni to the bold and colourful pointe shoes of today, the exhibition told the story of ballet shoes and how they transformed through the years. I couldn't resist purchasing a pair of sparkly red pointe shoes - who can resist a bit of glitter?
I even saw the iconic "Tutu Dress" by designer Alexander McQueen that graced the cover of Vogue in 2007. It was stunning! Made with an incredible 35 layers of white tulle and adorned with silk, ostrich feathers, and diamonds - simply breathtaking! This dress proved that tutus had gone far beyond their ballet roots, becoming a symbol of elegance, artistry, and a celebration of the female form.
Fashion Fun!Of course, I couldn't travel back in time without a little shopping spree! I had a wonderful time perusing the vibrant shops on Oxford Street. I discovered the most delightful tulle skirt and paired it with a sparkling sequined top, a pair of bright pink platform shoes and a dazzling array of vintage accessories. Honestly, I looked fabulous, and even had the cutest gentleman offer to help me hail a black cab with his very charming, "Would a princess like some assistance?"
Tutu InspirationThis little adventure filled me with inspiration! I'm adding this stunning 2007 look to my Pink Tutu Wardrobe. Maybe next time I travel, I'll get some extra tulle and beads, so I can make a little replica of that fabulous Alexander McQueen design - maybe I'll even start a Tutu Boutique!
So, my dears, what's your favourite Tutu moment from the year 2007? Don't forget to share your memories with us in the comments section!
See you all next Tuesday for more Tutu tales!
Yours truly,
Emma (Your Tutu Loving Time Traveller)
