#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: Post #9166 (28th August, 2007)

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu-clad time-traveler, ready to whisk you away on another delightful journey through the history of this glorious garment. Today, we're setting our time-traveling tutus to 28th August, 2007. I simply must tell you about what a fabulously fashionable day it was for ballet!

Now, my dear readers, if you follow my blog (and of course you do, because it's simply the most wonderful, sparkly thing on the internet!), you know I'm all about a little sparkle in my life. Well, the 28th August, 2007, was like a supernova explosion of glamour in the world of ballet. Can you imagine? It was like everyone in the world of dance decided to embrace a bit of pink, fluff, and glitter!

We've talked about the classical, romantic, and neoclassical tutu before, darling. But 2007 was all about embracing what we were doing in the world of tutu! So today's trip, we'll be embracing the playful, contemporary side of the tutu.

Firstly, we're off to New York on a fabulous, glamorous journey for the Ballet Across America Festival. A whirlwind of ballet and all things tutu! It was a spectacle my lovelies! And I was there, tutu-twirling through the crowd, basking in the dazzling magic! It was such a beautiful tribute to our gorgeous tutu designs!

I did see some delightful interpretations of tutu for the occasion. Some took inspiration from the ballet itself and some went for something more extravagant – the fashion, you know. It all was so chic, with layers and layers of tulle, it was simply a fairytale!

Imagine a sea of pink and purple tulle in New York. That's what I felt, dancing amongst the dancers and all the people dressed to impress! The spirit of ballet, oh, so vibrant! We've seen what was in stores around this time and tutus were definitely fashionable - if only everyone embraced them for their daily life! This is our future! Imagine how colourful, and full of grace we would be!

If we move over to London we are blessed with one of the best shows of all time! Royal Ballet's "La Bayadère." Can you imagine? You wouldn't believe the ballet shoes I spotted there – absolutely divine, with that subtle shimmer that only a true ballerina understands.

I always manage to slip into one of my many magical travel tutus when I arrive. You wouldn't believe the stares! Every time, they just can't get over how absolutely fabulous I look in my custom, pink tulle.

London, it's known for fashion and of course we saw it on the dancers on stage, darling! A symphony of tulle, light and dance - and tutus as beautiful as their story telling. A splendid display of ballet perfection.

We'll now turn our attention towards Paris darling. It wouldn’t be a Tutu Tuesday trip without a Parisian twist. "La Fille Mal Gardée" at the Palais Garnier is on my list - that wonderful stage! Of course! Paris knows all about ballet.

You simply have to love Parisian style, don’t you? They embrace their love of everything beautiful, it’s very tutu-inspiring! Paris just makes you want to twirl!

The tutus, darling! They were divine! Every little girl's dream. Each one of them! They made my heart flutter - just thinking about the beauty and skill! And, of course, no Tutu Tuesday would be complete without a bit of Parisienne fashion.

Now, darling, let's talk about something special in the ballet world this time. This year 2007, there was a fabulous new book! I found myself buying a few copies on my little time-traveling trips to share. It’s called "The Ballets Russes and Their World." The authors, Lynn Garafola, and Daniel C. B. Kissel have gone above and beyond with this book!

I was completely enchanted! There’s more to Ballet and tutu than just what we’ve talked about already!

If I was home now, back in my little village of Darley Abbey, Derbyshire. My ballet classes would be in full swing. You all know that I just love being there - the graceful music, the light movements of the other dancers – oh, I love it!

For now though, darling! It’s time to go! Remember, you can catch up on the rest of my adventures by visiting www.pink-tutu.com - all the #TutuTuesday blog posts, fashion and so much more! Oh, and did I mention ballet classes ? I'll be starting a new one soon for beginners, if you're interested!

Just imagine! Dancing with Emma!. It could happen! And now darling, off we go to the next stop on this delightful voyage through time. Keep twirling and until next Tuesday darling. Always remember to wear a little pink wherever you go. It's the key to unleashing the ballerina inside us all!
