#TutuTuesday: A Trip Through Time (and Tutues!) - Post 9253

Hello my darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu - your one stop shop for all things tutu, from vintage finds to modern masterpieces, from the history of the dance to the future of fashion. Today, my lovelies, we're taking a trip back in time to April 28th, 2009, and exploring a tutu so grand, so majestic, that it practically sparkles on its own!

Fancy a little time travel with me? Hop on the Hogwarts Express with me - that's what I'm using to get around these days. And who knows, we might even catch a performance or two!

Let's rewind, shall we?

The year is 2009, and tutues are experiencing a real resurgence in popularity! Think bright pinks, frothy tulles, and just the slightest hint of glitter. Oh, how the world loves its "sparkly fairy" moment, and there's no better way to embrace it than with a fabulously fluffy tutu. We've got everything from the classic romantic ballerina tutus, a personal favourite, to playful variations like the shorter, pouffer, more "street" style tutu, a lovely option for a touch of whimsy and flair. It's truly a fabulous time to be a tutu enthusiast!

Speaking of "street," have you all heard of ballet street?! It's taking the world by storm. There are dance parties and events popping up everywhere, from Covent Garden in London to Central Park in New York, and everyone's in a tutu! It's just so much fun, and it’s a fantastic way to celebrate all the creativity and artistry of ballet in an open and accessible way. You should totally pop along if you’ve the chance! A bit like me in my favourite dancing shoes, they're there to bring some joie de vivre to life, reminding us to twirl, jump, and laugh whenever possible!

Tutu History in 2009

In 2009, there are a few key figures making their mark in the tutu world:

  • The tutu icon: The one and only [Insert name of famous ballerina or designer], of course! They are constantly innovating with design and are paving the way for what tutus can truly become, blending the grace of ballet with the latest fashion trends.

With their visionary approach, they embraced the bolder, shorter tutu for their modern takes on classic ballets and paved the way for new generations to express themselves creatively.

Tutu Inspirations of the Week

While exploring this lovely time, my inner fashionista is getting very excited about a few of the current trends:

  • Neon pinks and bold colors: Oh my goodness, does it get any more glamorous? Imagine a vibrant, fluorescent pink tutu, bouncing with energy. A splash of colour and fun, like sunshine on a spring day!

  • Geometric patterns: I am obsessed with how modern geometric patterns like polka dots, chevrons, and stripes look on tulle! It gives tutus a chic, contemporary edge that is both classic and exciting!

  • Embroidered tutus: So dreamy! You can create unique and captivating designs by playing with intricate stitches, embellishments and intricate motifs. Talk about fairytale princess magic!
