Tutu Tuesday #9271: A Whirlwind Through Time!
Hello, lovelies! Welcome back to another edition of Pink-Tutu, where we dance through the history of the iconic ballet tutu! Today, we're taking a trip back to September 1st, 2009 - a time when skinny jeans ruled the world and my love affair with pink tutus was just getting started!
Oh, but first! Remember to follow me on Instagram at @Pink_Tutu! I’ve just posted some new snaps of my fabulous time in New York City. This fabulous city is a mecca for fashion and theatre! Oh, the tutus I’ve seen here, all kinds! But back to our history trip...
Now, picture this: the world in 2009. Blackberry phones are all the rage, the first iPad just launched, and Twilight mania is taking over the world! What a wonderful time it was! It’s funny to think that only a decade ago, we couldn’t even dream of things like driverless cars and foldable phones! I do wish we could wear our smartphones like beautiful pocket watches! Now imagine that! Oh, imagine a whole collection of them, inspired by tutus, with flowing lace and diamanté embellishments! Maybe one day, my lovelies!
Back in 2009, the tutu world was pretty glamorous, my darlings. We were seeing revolutionary styles coming out. Like the super whimsical tulle skirts made from hundreds and hundreds of layers, creating a glorious poofiness that simply demands to be admired. I’m wearing one just now and it makes me feel so magnificent! And then there was the rise of the short tutu. Now, we have the mini skirts from the likes of Christopher Kane to thank for making them all the rage! And how amazing are they?
I recently caught a stunning ballet performance in Paris featuring the Sleeping Beauty - it had the most dazzling tutus, all flowing and light, like wisps of clouds. And oh, the dancing! So ethereal, so graceful. Pure magic! And remember to always look your best on stage, darlings. Always choose a fabric that complements your form! Some love to work with layers of fine, flowy tulle - a symphony of ethereal fabrics for a graceful glide! Others, perhaps, feel better with heavier satin and sequins. I mean, after all, a girl has to feel confident, right?!
Speaking of Paris, can we talk about its incredible shopping? It's a heaven on earth for a tutu lover! From classic, elegant stores to whimsical boutiques hidden in alleyways, you’re bound to find treasures to inspire your wardrobe and feed your soul! Just make sure you always wear your biggest and brightest smile, you never know who you might meet in these stylish streets!
But, darling, you wouldn’t believe what’s in my sights right now! This trip has been so wonderful, and the inspiration has been amazing. My latest tutu collection, a tribute to French street fashion, will feature playful pastels with just a hint of that Parisian chic. The colours are going to be the most delicious shade of bubblegum pink and lavender. I’ve even got this stunning floral pattern I found at a vintage market in Paris, I think I’ll include that on my new crop top for the collection! Oh, how I love the creativity and fashion that floods my imagination while I travel!
And let’s not forget the magical ballet shows. These performances are truly breathtaking! Imagine being whisked away on a journey to a land of fantasy! It truly is like stepping into another world. Imagine soaring through the air on a magnificent stage, with the spotlight illuminating every pirouette! I imagine those dazzling sequins, and beautiful tulle, a rainbow of colors catching the spotlight's glint... oh, just the thrill of performance! It's truly the best feeling!
This Tutu Tuesday is ending with an even stronger love for all things pink and fluffy! If you want to travel back in time, like I do, let yourself be inspired by history. Look back and learn, explore what makes your heart flutter. For me, it’s tutus. What is it for you, darling? Remember, whatever it is, be confident and embrace it! The world is your stage, my lovelies! And remember to follow my blog on my new Pink-Tutu website www.pink-tutu.com! And check in every Tuesday for new updates on our #TutuTuesday travels!
Love and pink tutus, * *Emma 💖
