#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: A Twirl Through Time! (Post 9309)

Hello, darlings!

It's your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing, time-traveling ballerina blogger, Emma, back with another installment of #TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History! Today, I'm whisking you all the way back to 25th May 2010!

This week's journey is rather exciting because we get to see what the tutu world was like just a decade ago! Can you imagine, a world without TikTok dance videos and YouTube ballet tutorials? Shocking!

As usual, I've travelled by train (nothing beats a good train journey, don't you agree?) and have been indulging in some of the delights of the time! Luckily for me, they had the most exquisite selection of macarons in my favourite shade of pink.

But before I delve into the fashion highlights of 2010, let me tell you about a special day it was! On the 25th of May 2010, the Royal Ballet was performing "Swan Lake" at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London. That's right, darlings, a classic performance right in the heart of the ballet world! I simply had to catch it.

The costumes were divine! Those iconic white tutus were the ultimate expression of grace and beauty. I found myself utterly enchanted by the performance – the ballerinas were absolute visionaries! And it wasn't just the ballerinas, the audience, oh my! They were dressed to the nines, elegant and stylish with a sprinkle of that 2010 chic.

But how has the tutu itself changed over time?

Oh, my darlings, it's quite a fascinating journey. Back in 2010, tutus still held on to the traditional styles of classic ballet, the pouter, the pancake, and of course the iconic Romantic tutu. But whispers of a tutu revolution were in the air, hinting at the future of exciting tutu variations we would soon see!

This, I can assure you, is the beginning of a tutu evolution! From 2010 onwards, tutus embraced different fabrics, forms, and shapes, taking their inspiration from dance trends, pop culture, and the endless world of creativity! But this week, we celebrate the beauty and tradition of the classical tutu as it still reigned supreme back then.

My 2010 Inspiration

Being in 2010, I've come back with some rather fetching fashion inspiration. Think floaty skirts, pastel shades, and of course, a generous splash of pink! This colour is always timeless, but 2010 saw it return with a bang. It seemed every high street shop and boutique was filled with shades of rose, candy floss, and my favourite: bubblegum pink.

The vintage feel was strong, giving us those classic ballet-inspired silhouettes -think a-line skirts with peplums, fitted tops with cinched waists. Oh, the sheer volume of tulle and lace! It was a delight to the eyes, like stepping onto a dreamy, vintage movie set!

The Power of Pink (and Tutùs)

Remember, my mission is to bring you all the tutu joy! And what is better than a little pink to set the world on fire with Tutu Tuesday? We are, after all, all sisters in dance, connected by our love of everything pretty, pink, and graceful!

That's all for this week, darlings! I hope you've enjoyed this quick peek into the fascinating world of 2010 ballet and fashion. Until next time, keep twirling and never stop dreaming of pink tutus!
