#TutuTuesday: A Whirl Through Time! (Post 9412)

Hello my darlings! Welcome back to another exciting #TutuTuesday here on www.pink-tutu.com! It's Emma here, your ever-so-pink, tutu-loving time-travelling ballerina, and oh my, I am simply bursting with excitement about this week's trip!

Now, before we jump headfirst into a pirouette through the past, I've got to say: have you seen the glorious new collection at La Maison du Tutu in Paris? I simply had to snag that blush-pink tulle masterpiece! I can just picture myself dancing in the cobbled streets of Montmartre in that beauty, surrounded by cobblestones and the scent of fresh bread - oh, what a dream!

But alas, back to our time-travelling adventures. This Tuesday, my dearest tututarians, we find ourselves back inā€¦ drumroll ā€¦ 2012! You'd think I'd be tired of these recent times by now, but with all the amazing shows, new designers and thrilling fashion trends, I'm utterly hooked! And frankly, thereā€™s nothing better than wearing a billowing pink tutu in a city humming with life and vibrant colours.

2012: A Year of Ballerina-ness

Okay, my lovelies, 2012 was a truly bonkers year! From a cultural point of view, everything was happening! On the dance scene, we saw the return of The Sleeping Beauty with a breathtaking new interpretation at the Royal Ballet in London. That show had my heart in a total spin! Can you imagine, my lovelies, watching Aurora wake from a magical slumber to the beautiful, dreamy choreography of the original ballet? I practically dreamt in tulle for a week after!

My 2012 Trip: What Was I Up To?

On this particular 15th of May, you can find me twirling right into the heart of Paris! The city, ooh la la, was alive with excitement. There was something in the air, a buzz! The Royal Opera House had brought over their beautiful production of Giselle, and you just know, with that exquisite costume design, there would be more than a few tutus flitting around! Oh, to be a Parisian in a tulle cloud, floating between cobbled streets, and art galleries! It was, my loves, trƩs chic!

Fashion's Biggest Hits of the Year

This 2012 was a glorious year for fashion! It felt like everyone was feeling playful and free! There was the revival of the tutu, which was pretty fitting seeing as itā€™s always had a place in my heart.

The fashion world, my darlings, went absolutely bonkers for tutus this year! There were designers using tulle everywhere, it was incredible. Christian Dior, a personal favourite, presented a truly magical collection. Their floor-length, multi-coloured tulle dresses ā€“ I would literally do anything for one of those creations! Just imagining that voluminous tulle skirt swaying as I move would be sheer ecstasy! *Oh la la, so dreamy! *

And did I tell you about the trend of ballet-inspired fashion? Well, let me tell you, this trend made every step we took an opportunity to feel elegant and chic! It was an era of dancing in the streets, you see.

A Dash of Tutu History:

And speaking of tutus, have I ever mentioned their history? Yes, yes! These delightful clouds of tulle have a rather wonderful, fascinating past! It all starts in the early days of ballet, back when the performers woreā€¦ well, nothing! Shocking, I know! Imagine a world without these airy beauties? Can you imagine waltzing through the centuries in a simple cotton skirt? *Horrors! *

They actually came onto the scene around the mid-1800s and believe me, theyā€™ve been around for ages! They became absolutely essential! Think the grand pas de deux or The Nutcracker ā€¦ impossible to imagine either of them without the fluttering magic of a tutu! They transformed ballet performance into the captivating dance spectacle it is today! And the styles have gone through incredible transformations! The early days saw the iconic ā€œbell-shapedā€ tutu (so classic!), followed by the shorter ā€œpancakeā€ tutu, and finally, the modern ā€œRomanticā€ tutu! Can you even imagine having to create that beautiful shape of the Romantic tutu with just silk, tulle and thread? These designers, my darlings, were absolute geniuses!

The Power of Pink

I am simply smitten with the pinkest shade of tulle there is! If thereā€™s ever a shade more pink, more fluffy, more delicate and exquisiteā€¦I havenā€™t found it yet! There is something magical about pink, you know? A je ne sais quoi! Pink for me is simply the epitome of the perfect tutu.

Pink isnā€™t just a color; itā€™s a vibe, an emotion, a sense of joy and happiness. Just imagine it: a soft, delicate, beautiful pink tutu ā€“ so airy and weightless, almost floating! Imagine the twirls, the leaps, the graceful steps. Pink represents the lightheartedness, joy, and playful energy that brings me to the theatre every night. Pink tutus, my lovelies, they truly are a love affair that transcends time itself!

Time To Travel, Darling!

Well, itā€™s almost time for me to say goodbye, my loves! The trainā€™s whistling at the station, and I simply have to run! I canā€™t tell you where Iā€™m going yet, but trust me, itā€™ll be a whirlwind adventure! Don't forget, dear friends, to tune in every Tuesday for my #TutuTuesday journey into the wonderful world of the ballet! I hope, in my little pink corner of the internet, I inspire every one of you to embrace the joy of a tutu, just like me. Until then, remember to stay positive, keep dancing, and always, always wear a pink tutu!
