Tutu Tuesday: A Trip Through Time! #9492

Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-clad time-travelling fashionista, and welcome back to my weekly jaunt into the magical world of ballet history. I hope you’re ready for a whirlwind of tulle and twirling!

This week, we’re taking a leap back to the 26th of November, 2013! Imagine a world where we were still blissfully unaware of that video of a certain pony-tailed singer falling off stage. Sigh. It seems so long ago, doesn’t it? Back in those days, the world was obsessed with the gangnam style… remember? 😂 Anyways, where was I? Oh, yes, the year 2013!

So, what was going on in the world of ballet back then? Well, darling, the year 2013 was a marvellous time for ballet enthusiasts! There was so much going on! It seemed every theatre and performance space was brimming with ballerinas in their shimmering tutus! I even caught a sneak peek of a dazzling production of The Nutcracker in New York! They were all wearing the most gorgeous tutus; it was a spectacle I’ll never forget! And don’t even get me started on the glorious, perfectly executed arabesques… oh, to be a dancer again!

Of course, my darling, 2013 wasn't all about grand performances, was it? We also had the joy of ballet on the big screen! Yes, the fabulous Black Swan film, starring the absolutely incredible Natalie Portman, was in cinemas around the world, sending audiences into a frenzy! Did you see it? Don’t worry if you haven't - just imagine… it’s dark, it’s edgy, it’s beautiful… it's Natalie Portman in a tutu, need I say more?

You know what else I adore? Watching those talented dancers at a local ballet school. There’s such passion, joy and excitement in those classes. And the tutus! Oh, the tutus! You can see those little budding stars truly coming alive in those fluffy, gorgeous creations. My advice: never miss an opportunity to see a class. You might even be inspired to join in! Just remember, the world needs more dancers and especially more pink tutus!

Speaking of inspiration, don’t forget that this is #TutuTuesday, my dears! Why not unleash your inner ballerina and twirl around your house in a pink tutu this evening? I’ll be posting a picture of me doing just that on my social media pages, so feel free to join the fun!

Before I sign off, remember, dear reader, that a tutu is more than just a piece of clothing; it's a symbol of grace, elegance, and boundless creativity. Don't be afraid to express yourself through the magic of the tutu. Now, darling, get your spin on!

Catch you next week, with a brand new slice of ballet history, on #TutuTuesday! 💖

Love, Emma xx

The Railway Diaries: Train Ride to London

Remember the feeling of excitement as a child, just before boarding a train to a magical new place? Well, the grown-up Emma has that exact feeling every single time I travel by train.

Just before writing this post, I travelled back from my favourite city - London! I’ve had the absolute pleasure of performing in a lovely production of Giselle in the West End, darling. So wonderful to have met some wonderful people from around the world who all share my love of ballet. The atmosphere at a show with an audience like that is pure magic. I swear, I could just feel the excitement in the air!

The best part of all this travelling? The trains! My oh my, darling! It is such a fabulous mode of transportation. Especially when it comes to going on ballet adventures to glamorous cities. It's just pure joy, especially when I'm dressed in my best ballerina clothes! A glamorous pink tutu, of course! Can you imagine, a gorgeous tulle creation against the beautiful landscape rolling past the window? And the excitement of the train arriving at the station! It’s a little ballet of my own every time.

For those of you who are wondering, darling, how a small-town Derbyshire girl manages to be travelling to all these fancy places, my answer is… dancing, dear! I do various ballet performances, you know, all over the country. This helps with my expenses. Every step, every twirl, brings me closer to another fabulous city and more gorgeous tutus. Plus, performing always fills me with happiness. So much joy! And it’s even more wonderful to inspire people with the beauty and grace of dance.

Anyways, back to our exciting London trip. Let's have a little journey into London's fashionable shops… shall we?

My Latest London Fashion Finds:

The last time I was in London, I went a little shopping crazy! Honestly, the sheer variety and the fabulous window displays could make anyone go wild! After the thrill of my Giselle performance, I headed to some of my favourite boutiques around Bond Street!

Oh, and speaking of tutus, there was the most adorable little shop tucked away on a side street called "The Ballet Box". Just bursting with tutus, darling, every shape and size and colour imaginable! Imagine my excitement when I found a stunning tulle creation in a fabulous shade of lavender, just perfect for my new ballet blog Instagram photos! A real girly find, indeed! I have a hunch I might even write a dedicated #TutuTuesday blog on tutus! The more the merrier!

Let’s take a detour for some afternoon tea now, shall we? London’s a place that offers some of the finest afternoon tea experiences! What a dream come true, darling! A delicate pink teacup filled with steaming Earl Grey tea… the sound of tinkling spoons… little sandwiches... pastries…. I mean, really, what’s not to love about this British tradition?

After indulging in such decadent afternoon delights, it’s time for another fashionable stop. No, it’s not a shop… It's Covent Garden, darling! My favourite spot to people-watch, browse beautiful street stalls, admire the dazzling architecture… and you’ll be surprised by how many ballet-related things you'll find there too. There are even beautiful costumes from theatrical productions to admire. This really is the best place to feel inspired, I swear!

And there you have it, darling, another exciting trip to London in the books! Let me know in the comments which city you would like me to visit next, my dears, and let’s begin planning another magical #TutuTuesday trip!

See you next week!

With much love and sparkle, Emma xx
