Tutu Tuesday #9556: A Pink Tutu Journey Through Time!
Hello lovely ladies and gentlemen! It’s your favourite pink-loving, tutu-obsessed blogger Emma, back for another fabulous #TutuTuesday adventure! Today we're taking a trip through the captivating world of ballet, and trust me, you're not going to want to miss this!
I just love hopping on the train and visiting a new time period – sometimes I do go a bit overboard with the outfit choices! Just the other day I was spotted in a shimmering pink tutu in Elizabethan England – those poor souls were most bewildered. Luckily I got away without ending up in the Tower of London, thanks to my quick explanation that it was a revolutionary new fashion trend! But I digress.
Today, dear readers, we’re delving into the fascinating world of the tutu! It’s an iconic piece of dancewear, instantly recognizable, yet its history is both rich and surprisingly varied. Imagine a world without that delicate swirling fabric – dare I say, a little bit bland!
We’re taking a trip to February 17th, 2015! I just know it's going to be a tutu-ific adventure!
A Dance Through the Decades
So, the story of the tutu is an epic journey of change, creativity and most importantly, pure glamour. We've seen those wonderfully voluminous, frilly, romantic tutus that graced the ballets of yore. Then, the iconic 'Romantic Tutu', which revolutionised the ballerina's silhouette with its flowing fabric and shorter length.
What are we doing today? Ah, that's right. I am popping off to see the iconic Swan Lake in the UK – it’s one of those ballets you can see in the most stunning locations, like a glorious Victorian theatre in London, or a fabulous Royal Opera House in London. The perfect excuse for an exquisitely chic pink tutu and matching feather boa! That exquisite choreography with those gorgeous romantic tutus - they simply transport me to another world, a world of dreams and delicate elegance!
Tutu Talk: A Modern-day Look
Now, the tutu has gone through some remarkable transformations over the decades, and we have so much to be thankful for! Let's face it, the 20th Century brought about an array of fascinating, more daring tutus! There's the Balanchine Tutu which is just a beautiful vision in white with beautiful simplicity, and then there's the "tutu" which has actually had a fashion revolution as they've come in so many fabrics, materials and shapes! Some ballet shows feature these wonderfully short and minimalist tutu variations! And of course, the Neo-Classical Tutu is all about freedom of movement - those ballerinas are simply soaring across the stage.
In the world of 2015, ballet is a vibrant art form that still continues to inspire new styles and reinterpretations! From contemporary tutus designed to hug the body to ethereal layers of tulle and silk – ballet clothing keeps evolving in imaginative and exciting ways! Just a couple of days ago I discovered the most exquisite store here that's selling the most glamorous tutu accessories – perfect for my ever-growing collection. I must tell you – my new beaded garters are just to die for!
And you know what's absolutely amazing about these newer, less traditional tutus? They've helped to introduce so many new people to the wonderful world of dance! I feel a sense of pride watching girls from all walks of life, maybe some in our fab tutus, step onto those stages, and let me tell you, they absolutely OWN IT! The tutu, in all its forms, continues to be the perfect visual metaphor for passion, for strength and above all, grace!
The Future of the Tutu:
I am convinced the tutu is just about to embark on a whole new journey in fashion! If the past is anything to go by, it's just going to keep on evolving and I think the possibilities are simply limitless! It will be on the catwalk in some fantastic new interpretations! In fact, I saw a young designer the other day - oh! They are the future of fashion and have absolutely no doubt they are going to bring in a fabulous, exciting, tutu revolution, which means tutus will be everywhere! I just know my fellow tutu enthusiasts will agree! It will become more than a dance garment. It will be a symbol of individuality!
Don’t worry lovely tutu enthusiasts – I'll keep you posted with my travels, ballet and my ever-growing love for tutus! In fact, don't miss my latest design: The 'Emma Special' in all shades of pink – a nod to the past and the promise of exciting things to come in this magical tutu adventure!
Until next time, ladies and gents. Keep on twirling and dancing. Keep the dream alive and be sure to wear those tutus! You know my favourite saying - if it makes you feel happy and wonderful - then rock it with confidence! Don't ever let anyone tell you that you cannot rock a tutu in public, my dears!
See you soon for my next Pink-tutu adventure, my darlings!
