#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History – A Whirlwind through Time (Post 9575)
Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back for another Tuesday treat of tutu tales. I'm currently ensconced in a comfy corner of my Parisian apartment, sipping a delicious cuppa and, of course, sporting a gorgeous pink tutu – it wouldn't be #TutuTuesday without one! Today, we're embarking on a magical journey to the year 2015! Buckle up, my loves, it's gonna be a whirlwind.
As always, let's begin with the pièce de résistance - the Tutu itself!
Oh, 2015. It's a glorious year for the tutu! From the elegant classical tutus we adore in ballets like "Swan Lake" and "Giselle," to the wonderfully whimsical contemporary tutus - think delicate netting, shimmering fabric, and innovative shapes. Every design has its unique charm, a testament to the enduring artistry of the tutu!
If you were lucky enough to be in Paris on June 30th, 2015, you would have been treated to an exquisite ballet performance at the Palais Garnier. I hear the stage was a visual symphony of cascading tulle and stunning choreography.
Speaking of Paris... oh darling, you simply must visit the iconic Galeries Lafayette on a trip there. In 2015, the department store is brimming with incredible ballet-inspired fashion – I hear their collection includes tutus galore, ready for a night at the theatre, or a stroll through the streets. If only I had a magic wand, I’d wave it to get all my lovely readers into a pink tutu to dance in the aisles with me!
The power of Pink!
I can't get enough of this fabulous colour! In 2015, pink isn’t just a colour, it's an attitude. A symbol of feminine power, style, and that unique ballerina grace. I can see why pink is all the rage on the dance floor and the fashion scene - it’s captivating and bold, but delicate enough to let our personality shine.
*(Quick Note: While I’m absolutely loving my pink tutu adventures, I firmly believe tutus come in a symphony of colours. There’s no wrong colour to celebrate, whether it’s shimmering black, captivating silver, or a stunning sunset orange – embrace the colours that resonate with your inner ballerina! ) *
Speaking of attitude, have you ever heard of " ballet street "? It's a captivating blend of classical dance and contemporary street style that really took off in 2015. This exciting movement is all about embracing individual expression – which of course I love.
Journey by Train!
Ah, a Parisian journey just isn’t complete without a train ride! The elegance and beauty of a Parisian train journey… there's nothing quite like it, darlings. Imagine yourself on a high-speed train, surrounded by people who appreciate beauty and grace, and maybe even catching glimpses of shimmering ballet-inspired attire through the windows! The excitement alone is enough to have you pirouetting down the train carriages (with utmost decorum, of course!)
Tutu History Bites!
For this week’s #TutuTuesday trivia – did you know that the term "tutu" wasn't actually coined until the 19th century? Imagine, all those elegant ballet costumes in the 17th and 18th century with no fancy name for their beauty! Imagine how our fabulous ballet bloggers would have been stymied, darling! We’re so lucky to be in an era where we have these splendid words to describe all things tulle and graceful!
Now, darlings, let's end on a note of pure ballet joy. Imagine the anticipation building as you enter the Grand Palais to witness the magnificent spectacle that unfolds – the elegant costumes, the heart-stopping movements, the soaring music – it’s all enough to make your heart soar like a graceful ballerina, reaching for the heavens!
*This week’s call to action, dear friends: *
Let’s take the magical, whimsical spirit of ballet * and *inject a touch of sparkle into your daily life. Wear a tutu, dance your way around, and embrace all things that make your heart happy. After all, isn’t that what it's all about, lovelies?
Until next week, stay fabulous!
Love,
Emma
