#TutuTuesday: A Whirlwind Through Time - Ballet Tutu History! 🩰
Hello my darling tutu-lovers! It’s Emma, your resident tutu enthusiast, back with another extra special #TutuTuesday post for www.pink-tutu.com – we’re on post number 9623 already, can you believe it?!
Today, my time machine whisked me all the way to 31st May, 2016, right into the heart of a bustling city buzzing with ballet fever! The energy here is simply electric! I'm already in love with this year. Just picture it, darling: sleek skyscrapers reflecting the afternoon sun, a beautiful ballet performance shimmering in the distance, and the sweet smell of popcorn and anticipation in the air.
My journey today started with a delicious English breakfast. Then I whisked myself down to Covent Garden to catch a glorious performance of The Nutcracker! My, it was a magnificent display! You just had to see the sheer beauty and precision of the dancers twirling and leaping in their breathtaking tutus. Some of them even wore tutus that matched their fabulous pink satin slippers – ooh la la!
And you know me, darlings, a trip to a city simply isn't complete without some shopping therapy! So, I found myself in the heart of Covent Garden, amidst the cobbled streets and the sweet aroma of lavender, venturing into a lovely vintage shop overflowing with pre-loved tutus and ballerinas! It was a dream come true, every dancer's paradise.
Now, let’s have a little chat about tutu history! 2016 marked the centenary of the famous Ballets Russes – oh, the costumes, the spectacle! The impact this group had on ballet was simply remarkable! They truly brought dance and tutus to a wider audience. It's such a lovely time capsule!
And my lovelies, there's just something about tutus that always sparks conversations, especially with strangers! In fact, a very friendly lady, Beatrice, approached me after the Nutcracker performance! Turns out she was a diehard ballet fan, and had seen The Nutcracker a whopping fifteen times! We spoke for ages, talking about everything from the latest pointe shoe technology to our favourite ballet productions.
Isn't it truly fabulous to be in a world that celebrates such graceful beauty, especially when we can be so beautifully dressed to admire it? And with all of this exciting tutu action, the biggest trend I spotted was ballet-inspired street style! Lots of darling ballerinas wore tutus out and about for shopping, dancing, or a picnic in the park, bringing their ballet love into their everyday lives!
So, how about you? Have you ever dreamt of taking up ballet, or maybe trying on a gorgeous pink tutu and twirling under the spotlight? Don’t be shy, darlings! It's never too late to tap into your inner ballerina.
You know what, darlings, while I'm absolutely smitten with 2016, it’s time for me to whisk myself off back to my own little corner of time, but before I go, I have to leave you with this little thought: Why not join the Tutu Revolution? You could make the world a more fabulous place one tutu at a time!
Until next #TutuTuesday, keep twirling, keep smiling, and remember - pink tutus rule the world! 🩰 💖
Love, Emma xx
