Tutu Tuesday: A Whirlwind Through Time! (Blog Post #9641)
Hello darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad time traveller, and welcome to another #TutuTuesday adventure! I'm whisking us back in time today, right back to October 4th, 2016. Now, that's a date with a certain je ne sais quoi - a fabulous blend of classic and modern. Think flowing, ethereal gowns that dance between the pages of history, while still echoing the captivating modernity of ballet today.
This week, I decided to hop on a glamorous, old-fashioned steam train straight to… London! Because, darling, where else can you find such a heart-stopping collection of ballet history and fashion, all woven together with the undeniable spirit of the city?
Time Travel, Fashion, & A Little Bit Of History
I arrived in London all ready for a fabulous adventure! My favourite bright pink tutu with sparkling sequins, topped off with a chic hat and some lovely gloves, had me looking every inch the sophisticated ballet dancer travelling through time.
So, what was the world like on this very date? Well, picture this: the air crackled with excitement. The Royal Opera House was buzzing, ready to host the world premiere of “The Winter’s Tale”, a beautiful new production by Christopher Wheeldon.
This wasn’t your usual fairy tale ballet, oh no! This one was based on Shakespeare’s masterpiece! With costumes inspired by 17th century paintings, it took the audience on a romantic journey through time and tragedy. Just my kind of storytelling!
But it wasn’t all about grand premieres, of course. There were so many more gems of ballet history waiting to be uncovered. We had a little stroll through the Victoria & Albert Museum, marvelling at The National Ballet of Canada’s amazing performance costumes. They had these incredible designs, like delicate flower petals floating in the air, truly mesmerising! And speaking of ballet fashion…
My Fashion Obsession:
You already know I love ballet tutus! This week, I discovered La Perla's beautiful collection of delicate tulle dresses. They were the perfect blend of feminine elegance and ballet inspiration! And let's not forget about *Christopher Kane’s *gorgeous Spring/Summer collection – a mix of bold colours and dramatic cuts, perfectly fit for any ballerinas' wardrobe. London never disappoints!
What Makes Me So Passionate?
Let's face it, the magic of the ballet lies in so much more than just the dancing. It's a universe of colour, passion, and the stories we tell through movement! My dream? To see ballet flourish even further!
But I also know, there’s a deeper magic to the whole tutu thing. It's not just a costume - it's about letting your dreams take flight! Whether you’re dancing in a theatre or swirling around your own living room, that's the tutu’s superpower – making you feel like you can fly!
Oh, and speaking of tutus… I spotted this fantastic piece by a little-known designer called Emma Jane! Her tutus are absolutely stunning! She uses gorgeous silk tulle in vibrant shades, creating a truly whimsical look! She's got such a keen eye for design and really knows how to add a bit of 'je ne sais quoi' to her creations! If you’re looking for a truly unique tutu that makes you feel like a dancing princess, give Emma Jane’s creations a look!
Final Thoughts:
