#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History - Post #9650

Hello my darling dears! It's Emma here, back again with another extra special edition of #TutuTuesday for you fabulous folks! This week we’re doing something a little different, venturing right back to the glorious year of 2016. Now, 2016 wasn't all doom and gloom, no! It was the year I first saw Swan Lake in London, the most stunning production I've ever witnessed. Just seeing those beautiful dancers in their ethereal, swirling tutus was enough to set my soul ablaze with pure delight! It was like the most enchanting dream come true.

Speaking of tutus, you'll not believe what was happening on December 6th, 2016! I just had to take a time-hopping trip to experience it all for myself. Imagine, my darlings, hundreds of dancers gracing the streets of New York, spinning and leaping in their tutus. A glorious ballet parade, if you will! You bet I joined in for a bit, twirling alongside all the talented souls. Such a thrill! This parade was organised by an American dance studio chain - imagine that, having a whole chain dedicated to the ballet! The joy of dance reaching far and wide… I truly am delighted! I have to say, this was the epitome of joy and artistic freedom in 2016. It filled me with such joy to see people in their own creations, expressing themselves through the grace of dance and the gorgeous twirls of a tutu!

Back to our beloved History of the Tutu:

Now, as a proud tutu connoisseur, I find myself constantly drawn to its fascinating evolution. It's a timeless fashion staple that's constantly evolving, much like our ever-changing world!

In 2016, we see a wonderful mix of traditional tutus and new innovations. Remember that time I stumbled upon a ballet shoe workshop in 2016? They were crafting gorgeous pointe shoes that looked almost magical with their delicate embroidery and dazzling colours. A ballet shoe in itself could be a mini-work of art! And don't get me started on the tutus they were using – silk, tulle, everything just shimmering under the stage lights. It was truly awe-inspiring!

What is happening on December 6th, 2016?

The most beautiful ballet tradition carried out in thousands of places around the globe on 6th December 2016, of course, was the ballet itself! I spent the evening at the Royal Ballet in London, witnessing the timeless beauty of "The Nutcracker". It always gives me the warm fuzzies, the exquisite movements of the dancers in their traditional tutus. The delicate tulle swirling and cascading, all the magic of a perfect winter fairytale!

Of course, I had to get my hands on some of the most divine fashion finds in 2016! In Paris, the French ballet houses were showcasing an exquisite collection of delicate silk and lace tutus. The design of the tutu was shifting in the 2016 fashion scene! The Parisian ballet maisons used more layers, soft materials, and a little less tutu shape. There were also new colours appearing - we even saw some fantastic dusky blue tones! A lovely change from the traditional pale pink. But nothing could compare to the sparkle and grandeur of the stage!

I truly believe in sharing the wonder of dance and, of course, our beautiful tutu with the entire world. Imagine, a world where everyone embraces the elegance, grace and artistry of a graceful pink tutu. We’d see our cities overflowing with colour, a kaleidoscope of whirling delight! Isn’t it lovely to imagine?!

Let’s make the magic happen! If you ever visit my Derbyshire home, you are most welcome to join me in the tutu making! We can even pop over to see a performance at the Nottingham Royal Concert Hall in our favourite tutu’s, what a magical trip that would be! We could have a wonderful, sparkly adventure with a gorgeous high tea in between!

Stay fabulous my lovelies and remember, tutu be the change you want to see in the world!

Keep twirling,

Emma x
