#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History: Post #9675

Hello my darlings! Itā€™s Emma here from www.pink-tutu.com, and I'm positively tickled pink to be back for another week of Tutu Tuesday! Today, my lovelies, we're waltzing back in time to 2017-05-30! šŸ©°

Oh, how I do love a good time travel jaunt, especially when it's fuelled by the joy of a sparkling tutu! This week, I had the absolute pleasure of popping down to the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, a theatre I simply adore.

As I was whizzing through the streets of London, on my way to the Royal Opera House, I had to remind myself what date it was: 2017-05-30, and that the hottest fashion item was a vintage, powder-pink tutu. Iā€™ve worn mine today - you know it! A pale pink tutu is never out of style in the time travelling ballet enthusiastā€™s world - especially on a Tuesday! What a fabulous look.

There is nothing quite like being amongst those glittering stage lights and feeling the magic of the dance. The whole experience is truly exquisite, from the grandeur of the theatre itself to the intoxicating artistry of the dancers. It makes my heart soar like a swan taking flight!

Speaking of swans, I got to see "Swan Lake" on this very date. Just the word "swan" brings to mind Degasā€™ paintings and that magical swan feather. You can bet your bottom dollar there were swan feather and pink tutu accents in my outfit this week - as this was a truly elegant occasion! I canā€™t imagine a more graceful and beautiful ballet than "Swan Lake", particularly with the majestic Russian State Ballet giving their performance, and it definitely topped off a marvelous day out.

Now, to the heart of this week's Tutu Tuesday. You know, in our modern world, it's sometimes easy to forget just how much we take tutus for granted! The ubiquitous ballet tutu is a cornerstone of ballet costume design, with a history as colourful and captivating as a storybook tale!

It wasnā€™t all grand stages and "Swan Lake" on my journey into 2017 though! On this particular day, I caught a performance of a local Derbyshire street ballet performance, too. I think it was about a "Cinder-Fella" that was rather enchanting, and I was impressed by the creative use of repurposed tutus. Thereā€™s nothing quite like watching ballet blossom on the cobblestone streets, with the vibrant energy of a town swirling all around it. Such creativity and spirit - I almost broke out in a pas de deux myself, right there!

While I'm on the subject of street performances, have you ever noticed how tutus lend themselves beautifully to everyday wear? Just try throwing on your favourite tulle masterpiece with your denim, and watch heads turn in awe!

Speaking of awe-inspiring creations, today I found a tutu boutique called "Dance Elegance" on my journey that caught my eye. Itā€™s in Notting Hill - the most colourful and fashionable location in London, and their tutus are something special indeed. I picked up a bright orange creation (yes, even I stray from the pink!), that I shall certainly be pairing with my pink tutu at some point during my travels - as a delightful clash! The creativity in ballet is truly inspiring, don't you think?

Speaking of creativity, I've got another exciting piece of news. I've got plans in place for another ā€œTutu for Changeā€ fundraiser coming up soon! Iā€™ll post a date shortly - and a quick summary for the website. It's a special opportunity to do a whole lot of good for our community. In true pink tutu spirit, weā€™ll be using dance to bring a smile to people's faces. Stay tuned, dears!

This week I took the train from Derbyshire - travelling with my beloved tutus always means packing! But for all my travelling I still make time to be back for my Tuesdays on ā€œTutu Tuesdayā€! Let me know if there is a tutu, or a dance, or a trip through time that you want to talk about in the comments below!

Until next Tuesday, my sweet things, stay fashionable, stay vibrant and don't forget, a pink tutu is always a good idea!
