Tutu Tuesday #9687: A Twirl Through Time!

Hello lovelies! It's Emma here, back from another fabulous adventure through time! As you know, my heart belongs to tutus, and my passion is bringing a touch of their magical twirl to every era! Today, we're hopping back to 2017-08-22, and let me tell you, the world of tutus was a-buzzing!

Remember when we talked about the Romantic era and the rise of the "ballerina" in its pure form? Well, that passion for ballet continued, and in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, tutus reached new heights of style and expression! There was a renewed appreciation for the classical, a flourishing of contemporary dance, and oh, the fashion!

A little train trip...

To immerse myself in the atmosphere, I hopped on the Orient Express, a train I absolutely adore - so glamorous! As I whizzed through Europe, the world outside seemed to be a kaleidoscope of styles. Think whimsical tulle skirts** layered on over floral dresses for festivals, bold pink ballerinass taking centre stage, and ballet costumes inspired by the era's cutting edge designers - the world was on stage, and I was living every dancer's dream.

And then... Broadway!

But my biggest treat was arriving in New York! This vibrant city was buzzing with energy, and ballet was truly a big deal! I saw an incredible performance by American Ballet Theatre. You wouldn't believe the grace of the dancers - like angels on pointe, their tutus a shimmering vision! Even Broadway's hottest musicals had tutu moments, showing just how important the twirl was for capturing both innocence and theatrical grandeur.

My love affair with the pink tutu...

Now, as you know, pink is my go-to colour - so delicate and playful, just like a tutu! And let me tell you, in 2017, pink tutus were absolutely EVERYWHERE! Think about the soft, pastel hues for the Swan Lake swans, the vibrant, shocking pink for the modern pieces. It was like a symphony of pink, and I absolutely loved it! The street fashion even picked up the tutu trend, pairing them with edgy sneakers and chic blouses for a modern ballet feel.

The internet's tutu power...

2017 was also the year of the internet, and you know what that means for us tutu lovers - social media exploded with ballerina pics! I saw beautiful ballerinas of all ages showing off their tutus in countless ways! We were a connected community, celebrating the power of a twirl and inspiring each other.

The tutus never stop!

So, darlings, there's something truly wonderful about the tutu's versatility. They can be bold, dramatic, playful, classic - anything you can imagine! 2017 proved to me that tutus are so much more than just costumes for ballerinas - they are a symbol of expression, creativity, and dreams. Remember: it's not just the tutu, it's the joy and freedom of twirling! Let's celebrate the tutu's journey through history and embrace its everlasting charm.

Until next Tuesday, Keep those tutus twirling,

Emma
