#TutuTuesday: Ballet Tutu History - The Pink Perfection of the Past! 💖🩰

Hello my lovely tutu-loving darlings! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-clad time-travelling blogger Emma, back with another fabulous #TutuTuesday. Buckle up your ballet slippers, it's a whirl through history we're going on today! 🚂

Today is February 5th, 2019, and guess what?! It's a date that brings together the most divine mix of fashion and history. Why? Well, imagine a time, just a little over a hundred years ago, where ballet costumes were literally all about the fabric! I know, right?🤯 It sounds like a dream to any fabric-obsessed tutu-lover.

Now, picture this: it's 1914, a whirlwind of new ideas, innovations, and... the first world war. Not exactly a joyous occasion, I know, but in the world of ballet, it marked a turning point - a departure from the frills and fancies of the Victorian era, opening doors for something completely new!

Goodbye corset, hello freedom! 🩰 The chignons became simpler, and skirts started getting lighter and more flowy. Can you picture it, darling? The beautiful tulle of the 20th century just beginning to make its glorious debut? I simply cannot contain my excitement!

Now, as my dear Granny Emma (she was also a ballerina, how wonderful is that!) would say, "A good tutu isn’t just about looking good, Emma. It’s about how it makes you feel! It’s about freedom, it’s about flying across the stage like a graceful, pink-hued butterfly. And that, my sweet, is exactly what started happening in 1914! 🤩

Of course, a tutu is just as fabulous on the street as it is on stage! But don't forget - we’re talking the 1910s! Street style is all about elegance, long graceful lines and a touch of rebellion, a nod to the revolutionary movements shaking up the world at the time. Imagine, long flowing skirts paired with bold, bright-colored shawls, a truly breathtaking sight! The pink tutu in full bloom 💖

And just as importantly, we're talking about a time of change - a period of growth, exploration, and rediscovering femininity! What a magnificent time to be alive! 💖

Just like my time-travelling journeys, I'm drawn to history like a moth to a flame - it's so beautiful, full of passion and possibilities! It reminds me that although fashion has come a long way since the 1910s, the heart of the tutu remains the same: the perfect combination of grace and playful mischief! 🤩

Speaking of playful mischief, don't forget to check out this week’s must-see ballet! The Royal Ballet's 'Giselle', now playing at the Royal Opera House, London. I can't wait to wear my newest tulle-covered number to it! What’s your go-to ballet attire for the show, darling? Let me know in the comments! 💖

And, if you haven't done so already, head over to www.pink-tutu.com to browse my latest vintage tutu collection! Each one’s as unique as a precious gem! 💖

It’s been lovely time-travelling with you, darling! And, just as a little reminder: don’t be afraid to stand out! Express yourself, feel fabulous, and let your tutu fly! 🥰

With infinitely pink love,

Emma
