Tutu Tuesday #9785: A Whirlwind Through History (And A Pink Tutu, Obviously!)
Hiya, my darling dears! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad time traveller, and welcome to another whirlwind adventure through the wonderful world of tutus!
Today's #TutuTuesday is taking us on a journey back to July 9th, 2019. Now, I know what you're thinking โ "2019, Emma? That's so recent!" But believe me, a lot can change even in a few short years, and the story of tutus is no exception!
So, pack your dancing shoes and a whole lot of pink, because we're about to take a peek at the history of the tutu in the fascinating year 2019!
Back in Time...
Imagine a world where Instagram was the platform for everything fashion-related, and everyone was obsessed with that "Barbiecore" pink look! Yes, darling, it's true! The world in 2019 was brimming with style, and you just knew that tutus would be taking centre stage.
Of course, back then, a lot of people thought the classic romantic tutus were a bit "old-fashioned." A new breed of "ballet street" and "fashion-forward" tutus was taking the world by storm, with bold colours and super trendy styles hitting the runway. It was truly exciting, almost a dance of progress and tradition โ and tutus were the beautiful centre of it all.
As usual, I found myself swept up in this glorious chaos. The energy in the world was electric, and my love for everything tutu was blossoming more than ever. The London ballet scene was abuzz with excitement, and of course, I was right there, dancing in the heart of it!
On that glorious Tuesday in 2019 (yes, I had to make sure my time-travelling calendar was correct!), there was a magnificent new performance at the Royal Opera House. It was a dazzling display of contemporary ballet, a stunning explosion of color and expression! Naturally, I went straight for the front row, sporting my signature pink tulle confection. As the stage came alive, I felt a rush of excitement.
Remember, back in 2019, even the trendiest of tutus still held an essence of classic ballerina romance. So the performance at the Opera House was the perfect blend of the traditional and the modern. There were beautiful tutus swirling like clouds, and some even incorporating elements of urban dance โ truly mind-blowing! I was in tutu-wearing heaven.
But it wasn't just the performances that were exciting. I remember dashing off after the show (that fabulous carriage was a bit late!) to the Covent Garden Market for a little bit of retail therapy!
Oh, my darlings, what a sight it was! I was surrounded by fashion-forward designs, unique styles, and bold statements... I admit, I nearly lost myself amongst the stacks of tutu fabrics and colourful trimmings.
Remember, back in 2019, being a fashionista was about expressing yourself and creating your own unique style. So of course, tutus were an essential piece of the puzzle โ they were perfect for both statement fashion and playful personality expression.
And don't get me wrong โ traditional, romantic, graceful tutus were still incredibly popular! There was a sense of classic elegance and elegance, and honestly, how can you resist a cloud of tulle that swirls and dances with you?!
After a delightful and totally necessary retail trip, I decided it was time to head back to Derbyshire. And what's a better way to do so than on a relaxing, scenic train journey? There was something incredibly satisfying about watching the English countryside whiz past as I nestled into my favourite window seat, wearing my perfectly pink, freshly bought tutu, of course!
There's nothing more stylish, comfortable, and glamorous than a train ride and a stunning tutu!
Back to the Present...
It's quite remarkable to think that just a few years have made such a difference in the way people view and interact with the magical world of the tutu. Back then, it was almost revolutionary for women (and men!) to take that step and express themselves with a statement tutu! But now, the pink tutu is everywhere, from Instagram influencers to stage productions, and even in everyday street fashion. Isn't it truly amazing how the times are changing for the better, allowing tutus to be a celebration of self-expression and artistic freedom?
You see, my darling dears, this journey of fashion history has taught us so much about tutus and their evolution! Just like life, they change with time and evolve, yet they remain as graceful and whimsical as ever.
As always, remember that every single day is a new opportunity to express your inner ballerina, to embrace your playful side and make the world a little more stylish! And if you're really feeling courageous (and daring!), why not rock a pink tutu today?! You never know where the day will take you, or who you might inspire.
Stay glamorous, darlings!
Love, Emma xoxo
