Tutu Tuesday: A Twirl Through Time - Post #9799!
Hello, darling tutufarians! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad time traveller, Emma, here, ready to whisk you away on another fabulous journey through the history of our beloved tutus. Today, we're setting our time-hopping dials to 15th October 2019! Can you believe it's been that long since we last shimmied into this decade? I must admit, there are some things I've really missed, like the bustling streets of London, the buzz of Broadway, and of course, all the wonderful tutus!
I landed back in the good old days this morning just in time for a scrumptious full English breakfast. Then, as is the tradition, I did a quick dash to the shop for a bunch of pink roses for my dressing room – one can never be too well-prepared, can one? It wouldn't be Tutu Tuesday without some glamorous, feminine touches!
Speaking of glamour, what’s hot in the tutu world today? Well, as ever, everything pink! But not just any pink, oh no! Think delicate blush pink with hints of shimmer, bright fuchsia for a playful pop, and those gorgeous, velvety magenta hues that just scream "diva."
Let’s talk tutu styles. My research (aka, a whirlwind of visits to ballets around the globe) reveals a definite trend towards classic, timeless shapes with a modern twist. The romantic, wispy tutus of yesteryear are still enchanting, but they’ve been joined by more contemporary designs. We’re seeing sharp lines, geometric cuts, and even asymmetrical shapes. All of this just makes the dancing even more dynamic, don’t you agree?
But this Tuesday isn’t just about tutu trends! 15th October 2019 was a day for ballet history. We celebrated the 150th anniversary of the Royal Ballet School, one of the most esteemed ballet institutions in the world! Imagine, darling, a hundred and fifty years of dancers honing their craft, nurturing talent, and pushing the boundaries of the art form. What an incredible achievement!
My time-travelling shenanigans took me right to the heart of London for the school's anniversary gala. The performance was simply divine! Seeing such a diverse range of talented dancers showcasing the best of classic and modern ballets was simply breathtaking. I even managed to snag a few dance moves from some of the budding stars – I can't wait to incorporate them into my next show.
But my trip wouldn't be complete without some time in the West End, the beating heart of theatre. I was lucky enough to see the legendary "Les Misérables" musical, a captivating production brimming with dramatic flair, powerhouse vocals, and some fabulous, theatrical costuming (tutus included, naturally!). The audience was rapt – you could feel the collective gasp at the big moments. Now, that's the magic of theatre!
Now, this is the part where I do my "Tutu Tuesday Spotlight". Remember, this segment is all about bringing you the hottest tutu finds from across the world. My trip today led me to Harrods, where I found a truly sensational collection of tutu-inspired fashion! There were exquisite evening gowns that flowed with a dreamy grace, some killer cocktail dresses for those glamorous nights out, and even playful, quirky pieces that I wouldn’t mind rocking on my next dance class outing! I do love a tutu, no matter the style, and let me tell you, the styles these designers have dreamed up for this season will have you twirling with joy!
Oh! Did you know? 15th October 2019 was also World White Cane Safety Day! It was fantastic to see so many people embracing this important awareness day, supporting and celebrating the lives of those who use white canes for guidance and mobility. What a wonderful example of compassion and inclusivity!
Well, darlings, that’s all for today’s Tutu Tuesday! Don’t forget, we’ll be back next week with more historical explorations, tutu tips, and perhaps even a sneaky glimpse of my latest ballet-themed fashion finds. In the meantime, do keep on twirling and spreading the love for pink tutus, wherever you may be!
Until next time, darlings!
