Today is a very special #TutuTuesday. Today we are travelling to…drum roll… 2019-11-05!
This date was jam-packed with fabulous fashion, and believe me, I wouldn’t miss it for the world! But before I get carried away with the excitement of the era, let's rewind the clock a bit.
My latest adventures took me to Paris - a city overflowing with elegance and, of course, tutus. The streets practically shimmered with their frills, from the quaint little shops near the Seine to the grandeur of the Palais Garnier. And oh my, what a sight to behold! It seems 2019 was a year for the whimsical tutus! - voluminous and full of drama! They were perfect for sweeping across the stage, catching the light in all their glory.
As for myself, I wore my favourite pink tulle tutu, of course, just as soft and fluffy as a cloud. It matched the city’s romantic vibe perfectly! Speaking of which, you know what's amazing about the 2010s? It was a decade of fashion mixing! It meant wearing your favourite tutu with whatever your heart desires – whether it be a crisp white shirt, a sassy biker jacket, or a glamorous sequined top. So many fun combinations for every taste!
Let’s delve into 2019-11-05
Now, my darling tutus, you won't believe this… This day in 2019 was truly magical for fashion! Firstly, I spent my morning scouring the local market for a little Parisian chic. Did you know, my little cherubs, that 2019 saw a resurgence of vintage style, and Parisian fashion was definitely leading the charge! My haul included the cutest tweed jacket – perfect for adding a bit of old-world glamour to my tutu-fied ensembles.
But, wait… it gets even better! In the evening, I went to see the iconic Paris Opera Ballet. This is not to be confused with the Ballet National de Marseille which is so lovely but it was at the Garnier Opera House and so dramatic! There's nothing like the energy of a live ballet performance, right? Especially when the stage is draped in all that elegant tulle and silk!
Speaking of silk… Did you know that in 2019, the trend of bold colours and prints on tutus was really coming into its own? I even saw a gorgeous, ruby-red tutu in the show with intricate gold embroidery, a real showstopper! And then there were the incredible dancers, so agile and graceful in their beautiful tutus!
For those of you interested in a little something for your own wardrobe, I recommend taking a peek at the ballet costume shops around Montmartre. I scored a lovely handmade tutu, crafted from the most exquisite satin - oh, the softness! Just the kind of dreamy piece you’d expect from the City of Lights, wouldn't you say?
Of course, no trip to Paris is complete without a good spot of shopping. Remember the fashion trends of the era - the revival of 1980s fashion for a really bright, bold, oversized look in vibrant, eye-catching colours. It's just perfect for a statement look when paired with your trusty tutu. And then, the '90s fashion influence, which we saw with the return of the saddlebag, the choker and of course, the iconic slip dress. Oh, I think that would look fantastic under a full tulle tutu!
But what's 2019-11-05 all about besides gorgeous clothes, I hear you cry? I am a huge history fan, I always do a bit of research and I know you’d like to know about the happenings of the era. And I was right - on the 5th of November, 2019, there was something big going on. Something monumental! The world celebrated the launch of the Disney+ streaming service. Imagine… All your favourite Disney movies at your fingertips. Oh, how wonderful! And what did we do in my lovely little tutu? I enjoyed every single magical moment of course!
I had so much fun travelling back in time to the glorious year 2019! There was so much beautiful fashion to inspire us to get creative, don’t you agree?
