Tutu Tuesday #9862: A Whirl Through History - 29th December 2020
Hello my darling tutu lovers! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-clad time traveller, Emma, back for another whirlwind of a Tutu Tuesday! This week, I’ve hopped through time to December 29th, 2020, landing right in the middle of a global pandemic. Can you believe it?! But fear not, dear readers, because even a pandemic can't stop my love for all things tutu!
The world may be in lockdown, but our spirits are soaring with the elegance of tutus. You know I’m a big fan of a good ballet show, and although live performances might be a bit sparse right now, there’s a plethora of stunning ballet performances available online. From the Bolshoi Theatre to the Royal Opera House, it’s never been easier to experience the grace of the dance, even from the comfort of your own home.
Speaking of grace, imagine my delight when I stumbled upon a video from this era! It featured the legendary prima ballerina, Misty Copeland, dancing an ethereal solo. She’s a real inspiration, and her talent truly embodies the joy and spirit of dance. Her powerful, expressive movement brought me right back to the stage, despite my being in the middle of my 2020s!
While 2020 may have been a tough year, there are always things to celebrate. In my travels, I discovered that this particular date marks a joyous holiday: Boxing Day! Yes, it’s a tradition for families to gather and share delicious festive feasts and delightful gifts – the perfect excuse to adorn oneself in a fluffy, pink tutu, don’t you think?
As for my travel, this week, I took a fabulous train journey through the Scottish Highlands! As my carriage rattled through snow-kissed landscapes, I couldn’t help but imagine how magical a tutu would look against the snowy backdrop. Honestly, the thought of waltzing through the frosted hills in a magnificent pink tutu is enough to send a shiver of excitement down my spine!
To complete the festive spirit of the season, let's delve into some tutu history! This period saw a renaissance of interest in classic ballet productions. Many companies, both big and small, experimented with modern interpretations of these traditional ballets. This exploration, in turn, revived the role of tutus as an integral part of performance attire. They remained a vital symbol of grace, beauty, and skill, which just proves that the power of a tutu transcends time!
Remember my dearest tutu lovers, no matter what the year throws at us, let us embrace the elegance and fun of wearing a tutu! Embrace its lightness and freedom. Embrace its whimsical charm and unparalleled grace. Embrace your own unique style and celebrate the magic of a truly enchanting garment.
I can’t wait to hear what you're planning for the next time you wear your own tutu! Let me know your favourite places to twirl, your preferred style, and of course, don’t forget to share your most dazzling #TutuTuesday photos on social media! I love to see all your amazing tutu looks!
Stay stylish and twirl your way into the new year!
Love, Emma xoxo
