#TutuTuesday Ballet Tutu History - Post 9974! 🩰💖

Hiya lovelies! It’s Emma, your friendly neighbourhood tutu-obsessed time-traveller, and welcome back to another #TutuTuesday! Today, we're taking a twirl back in time to the 21st of February, 2023 – a day that held some fabulously fashionable moments, just waiting to be explored!

But first, let's take a quick look at what Tutu-licious things I’ve been up to recently.

I spent last week dancing my heart out in the heart of Paris – can you imagine, darling? The city of lights and that famous Eiffel Tower, just glittering and sparkling! The ballet company was fantastic, full of stunning talent, and they even had some divine tutus that were simply to die for!

Afterwards, of course, I had to pop into a few shops in the haute couture district – it's practically a pilgrimage for any true ballet fashionista. And, you wouldn't believe it, but I found this breathtaking pink tutu with the most delicate lace details. Oh, darling, it's practically begging to be worn on stage! It’ll definitely be gracing my next ballet performance, no doubt.

After Paris, I was off to London for a few shows, and trust me, the West End never disappoints. The creativity and talent there just astound me – truly inspirational stuff!

But, enough about my escapades, let’s get back to Tutu Tuesday, shall we?

Now, on this glorious February day in 2023, the ballet world was abuzz! There was a fantastic premiere at the Royal Opera House in London, featuring a completely reimagined production of Giselle – I'm absolutely dying to see it! This famous story about a betrayed country girl is one of my all-time favourites.

Speaking of Giselle, do you know that the first tutu made its debut around this time? In the mid-1800s! Imagine that - such a huge change from the floor-length, cumbersome skirts worn by dancers before then! Now that is a transformation!

I find it absolutely fascinating to think that ballet had already undergone such huge changes by the 20th century – a truly revolutionary time in the world of dance. Ballet’s evolution reminds us of just how adaptable and forward-thinking the art form truly is.

It also makes me swoon to think about how much our love of tutus has been woven into the history of dance! The magic of a tutu truly embodies the artistry and passion of every ballerina!

Speaking of magical tutus – I need to show you some absolutely darling finds from my trip to London’s vintage markets last weekend. The most adorable tulle and silk creations I ever did see! Some had feather boas and little lace trim - you wouldn’t believe it! And guess what, I even picked up a fantastic pink tutu for next week's blog! I just can't wait to show you. It will be the perfect companion for a few fantastic tutus I’m going to show you all for my blog next week – yes, you heard that right – it's Tutu Tuesday again next week!

You see, I firmly believe every day is Tutu Tuesday, because every day is a chance to spread the magic of tutus and celebrate our love for all things pink, fabulous, and just a little bit whimsical!
