Tutu Tuesday: #10032 - A Whirl Through Time!
Helloooo, darlings! It's Emma here, your pink tutu-clad time-travelling friend, ready to take you on a twirling journey through the history of ballet tutus. We're stepping back in time, this Tuesday, to… April the 2nd, 2024, a day bursting with beautiful ballet and fashionable frocks. Now, what was I doing in 2024? Oh, let me tell you, darlings!
I'd just finished my 3-day, whirlwind tour of the dazzling London Fashion Week! What a delight - all the gorgeous colours, exquisite designs, and of course, an abundance of twirling opportunities (with my pink tutu, naturally). The atmosphere was electrifying, and everyone seemed to be buzzing with creativity. There were a lot of people interested in seeing more of the ballet inspired pieces in the shows. You just can't beat that elegant flow, eh?
As for my personal shopping haul? Let's just say my suitcase overflowed with exquisite fabrics and fabulous hats – you’ll be seeing some fantastic new looks on the blog soon. It's going to be très chic. Now, if you think you've had a busy time, imagine being me – I have to make every minute count when I’m back in my own time, so that’s shopping, sightseeing and of course ballet.
On my return to London from Fashion Week, I couldn’t wait to get to the Royal Opera House. It's the pinnacle of ballet in England. For the evening's performance, they were showcasing ‘Sleeping Beauty’, which you know is one of my all-time favourites. Every twirl, every jump – pure perfection. Afterwards, we had tea in the charming cafe (I had a delightful slice of Victoria sponge, a must-have for any afternoon treat!)
Of course, a day like this wouldn’t be complete without some dancing. And yes, you guessed it, I indulged in a bit of ballet class – after all, how else am I going to keep those pirouettes perfect, darling? I mean, wouldn't want to be caught off-guard during my time-travel antics, would we? I took a new class at The Pineapple Dance Studios. It was simply splendid - it’s an absolute treat for all aspiring dancers, or any one that wants to twirl! There’s always new classes for every type of dancer to try out - they even have Hip-Hop classes.
Speaking of the Pineapple, it was founded by the lovely Miss Pineapple (yes, seriously!) – she’s a force of nature with a charming accent as thick as cream tea. I had a quick chat with her after the class, we talked all about how dance is a universal language and it always connects people – I couldn’t have agreed more. You should definitely check it out when you visit London, and we could take a class together next time – it'd be fun to make it a Tutu Tuesday event!
Anyway, I've already chatted too much, as always! You know how I love to gush over all things glamorous, and there’s always so much to talk about, but it’s getting late, darling, and I’m going to go for a lovely soak in the bath to help unwind, with a glass of good old-fashioned English rose – the perfect way to end a divine day! I do love England, it’s just so full of charm!
Oh, don’t forget – share your ballet memories with me, in the comments below. Which ballerina do you admire the most?
And keep those tutus twirling!
Yours ever-so-fashionably, * *Emma xx

(To keep this post to a reasonable length, I didn't write much about the history of tutus, but I included it in the other blog posts that you might ask me to generate.)
