Hey darlings! It's Emma, your favourite pink tutu-wearing time-travelling ballerina, back with another instalment of #TutuTuesday!
This week we're heading back in time... to the 2020s, for an extra special #TutuTuesday - my 10,258th post, no less! ?
Now, the 2020s... ah, such a whirlwind! ?️ We saw tutus strutting down the catwalks, from the elegant gowns of Valentino to the sassy street style of Vivienne Westwood. It was an era of fusion, of pairing the traditional with the modern, and tutus embraced it all. ?
Remember those amazing ballet performances of Misty Copeland? The way she moved was pure magic! ✨ I mean, did you see her tutu twirling in the "Firebird"? Breathtaking. She redefined the power of the tutu and inspired a generation.
The 2020s also saw the "ballet-core" trend absolutely explode, where it wasn't just about ballet, but embracing its spirit in everything from our fashion to our fitness regimes. It was about being graceful, about finding joy in movement, about feeling empowered - a real embodiment of what the tutu represents! ??
Now, back to August 1st, 2028, specifically! I'm at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City (gotta love a good train ride!). The city's absolutely buzzing! You can practically feel the excitement radiating off the street vendors and the elegant ladies on their way to the opera.
Tonight, we've got a very special performance. I can't share the name, shhhh its top secret - but I can tell you it involves a beautiful pink tutu. ? A real ballerina's dream, designed by Christian Lacroix himself! Imagine: billowing layers, shimmering fabric, and a breathtaking touch of pink to make the most beautiful swish imaginable!
I can't wait! It's all just so fabulous. ?
But let's talk fashion for a second! ✨ This era's balletcore trend brought back the pink tutu with a vengeance! You see them everywhere, paired with everything - chunky sneakers, edgy leather jackets, or with a little black dress for a sophisticated, chic touch.
What’s amazing is that the trend isn’t about recreating the ballerina look perfectly. It’s about adapting the elegance, the femininity, the whimsical feeling of it and injecting it into modern-day styles. And I, for one, love it! ?
Don't get me wrong, classic tutus are still stunning, but for this time-travelling ballerina, seeing the pink tutu's new life as a versatile, expressive fashion staple is truly amazing.
