Maidstone Calling! Pink Tutu Sparklesā Adventure, Blog Post #27
Hello lovelies! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, fresh from a whirl-wind journey to Maidstone! You know I always say: āLife's too short for a dull outfitā and let me tell you, this past week has been anything but dull!
Itās no secret I adore the colour pink, and that Iām obsessed with all things tutu. I canāt resist a trip to the ballet, a twirl around a dance class, and definitely not a shopping spree at my favourite boutique! This trip to Maidstone was no exception!
Remember how I told you I funded my travel adventures as a drag artist? Well, Maidstone called! They needed a splash of Pink Tutu Sparkle, a dollop of dancing diva and a whole heap of good old-fashioned fun!
And guess what? Maidstone was everything I hoped for!
My journey started, naturally, with a dash of romance. Now, I wouldnāt be true to myself if I didnāt take the opportunity to travel by train. I absolutely adore those long, luxurious rides through the English countryside, where the fields are painted green and the sky a shimmering blue.
I slipped into my latest pink frock, a number with fluffy ruffles and sparkling sequins that screamed "Iām coming to a town near you!" And with my signature pink tutu peeking out from under the skirt, I settled into my window seat. I spent the journey lost in the scenery, the rhythm of the train a calming beat that brought out my inner ballerina!
Maidstone, Weāre Ready For You!
Maidstone greeted me with open arms (and even warmer smiles!). Itās a lovely, bustling little town that felt both steeped in history and brimming with life. Thereās a charm about Maidstone that immediately puts you at ease.
And of course, I had to make a stop at the local theatre! I found a charming, Victorian gem, the "Maidstone Theatre," tucked away in a side street. And guess what they had? A gorgeous rendition of Swan Lake! I tell you, nothing beats the magic of a ballet, the grace of the dancers, the emotions that they convey ā I felt like I was swept away!
The next day, my excitement was bubbling over, because I was set to perform! This time, I was invited to the annual Maidstone Craft Fair, a celebration of local artists and artisans. My show was slotted in between the knitted bunnies and the hand-painted ceramics!
Of course, I arrived in full drag, resplendent in a dazzling pink dress adorned with feathers, a shimmering pink tutu and, my signature, a giant pink feather boa.
This fair was all about colourful energy! Imagine, a crowd of lovely people, bustling with excitement. The air hummed with the buzz of creativity and good spirits!
I'm all about spreading positivity! I performed a mixture of showstopping ballet moves and dazzling contemporary dance ā and the crowd just loved it! They cheered, they clapped, and a few even joined in on a chorus line!
But what made my heart sing was when a young girl, maybe 6 or 7, approached me, her eyes sparkling with admiration. "You're like a real-life fairy," she whispered, holding out a little pink ribbon she had just purchased at the fair. "Will you put it in your hair?"
And in that moment, I realized what I had done, not just on that stage, but all these weeks of travelling, spreading a message of positivity and self-expression. I'm helping others embrace their unique selves. I had become a role model for a little girl who saw magic and sparkle in my tutu. It was the best feeling ever.
A Dash of Pink Magic, and A Whole Lot of Love
After the fair, I couldn't resist a shopping trip, where I discovered a little shop called "Tutus & Tiaras." Oh my, what a haven! Every colour imaginable! From sparkly lavender to royal blue, my heart skipped a beat ā even finding the perfect shade of pink for my next stage ensemble! You canāt leave a place like Maidstone without adding a new piece of sparkle to your wardrobe, now, can you?
I wandered around Maidstone for a couple of more days, soaking up the sights, indulging in a slice (or three) of delicious local pastry, and even getting to try a slice of delicious Maidstoneās own pink ice-cream!
I found that people in Maidstone have the warmest hearts, and everyone greeted me with such cheer. It was almost like the town had a pink glow, reflecting the magic I had brought along with me.
Itās safe to say that Maidstone is now one of my absolute favourite places! And what better way to leave than with a gallop through the countryside?
I booked myself a carriage ride, the horses taking me across the sprawling meadows towards a setting sun that bathed everything in a soft, pink hue. It felt as if the horses themselves were smiling at the end of my amazing trip!
You know, Maidstone proved to be the perfect place to get my spark on! You too can feel this Pink Tutu Sparklesā magic by trying on your own tutu.
