Bath - Pink Tutu Sparkles' Adventures! (Post #58)
Oh, darlings! It’s Pink Tutu Sparkles here, ready to whisk you away to the enchanting city of Bath! My fabulous journey to the ancient spa town of Bath, which, by the way, has to be the most romantic place I've been to since Paris. And guess what, dearies? It's only taken me five years to make it here, but I can honestly say it was worth the wait!
This blog post is going to be jam-packed with pink and glitter. We'll be talking about tutu-licious ballet shows, finding the best vintage clothing, and of course, the fabulous time I had performing for the lovely people of Bath!
It was all thanks to a rather magical invitation I received. The lovely people at the Theatre Royal Bath reached out and asked if I would be interested in a little performance. Now, who could possibly turn down an opportunity like that, right? I certainly couldn't!
But first, let's talk about how I got to Bath. Now, normally I’d whizz down the A1 on my way to London but there was no way I was going to be anywhere near that traffic for a city like Bath! Nope. I booked myself a carriage on the lovely GWR, a train I must say with the most gorgeous colour scheme of pale blue and silver! I felt like royalty and my “My London” by Anna Sui limited edition train bag perfectly matched my lavender silk midi dress with lace frills.
It only took a couple of hours and, after I’d indulged in a slice of homemade cake and a lovely cup of peppermint tea, we were pulled into the lovely little station of Bath Spa.
Right, my lovelies, if you ever get to go to Bath then it is a must to take a ride on the Bath Bus Company. Imagine a bus filled with so many people dressed in fancy costumes for a theatre trip. I mean I can’t get on my usual double decker in Chesterfield but I did make sure to give all my best looks! They had an open top too - that made me happy because as usual, I was wearing my iconic pink tutu, but of course!
It felt like a trip back in time, the bus even had its own little platform for you to board and the station at the bottom of Milsom Street is absolutely lovely and decorated in shades of white, red and grey which, of course, goes amazingly with pink, which is why I stopped to take several selfies for my followers!
I headed for the lovely, historic, Royal Crescent; the sight of those crescent-shaped homes overlooking a garden made me feel like I’d stepped into a movie. I could have spent the entire afternoon taking photos of my tutu against that gorgeous background! Oh, to live in such a magnificent place. There are several hotels here, even a lovely vintage clothing shop at number 4, I just knew I was going to be getting an amazing bargain there, and of course, they even had their own lovely park which is so green and pretty, I wanted to stay there forever!
There was only one thing that was missing in Bath and that was some extra sparkle and, since I had an opportunity to bring some glitter, what better way than to use it to entertain? It was so lovely. All my dear friends from Derbyshire came along too and some even dressed up in pink for the event. Oh, how I love pink. It really suits everything.
Bath has so much history - I was told it’s one of the oldest towns in England, and, as an avid fan of historical sites, I decided I’d best check it out. Luckily, a fabulous local was kind enough to point me towards a small street with an array of lovely boutiques and I quickly fell in love with one in particular, it even had the word ‘vintage’ on the name. How could I possibly not take a look? I even had my photo taken in the window.
Anyway, after a delightful walk around Bath, I had just enough time to sneak into the Theatre Royal, it had so much atmosphere. Even the toilets are exquisite; every little detail made me think what a lovely little city this was. There was a feeling that something special had taken place here and I was a part of it. It all made me really happy and you bet, darling, there was a little pink sparkle all over that stage. There’s nothing I love more than seeing my little pink tutu go round and round in the centre of the stage with all those colourful lights! It made my performance truly unique!
This trip had a happy ending.
It was a huge hit! All those lovely Bathonians showed up dressed in their finest. And honestly, the excitement I felt knowing that my performance would be such a lovely spectacle, I swear I nearly fainted on stage. Even a few members of the local ballet school turned up dressed in their lovely leotards and tights, oh how it did make my day!
I must tell you, after the show, a wonderful lady with the sweetest smile came up to me. "I saw your advert for this show," she said, “my niece had been begging me to go, it was your sparkly pink tutu on the ad and how excited I was, it all came true and she was absolutely ecstatic! Oh, how I want to get one, what a lovely one to look at and wear. Thank you!”
After that, you would be surprised just how many people turned up to my drag performance that night. Now, darling, that's just another feather in my hat as they say. And what better way to end such an enchanting evening? My friends from Chesterfield gave me the perfect parting gift: a beautifully woven, soft pink shawl that I'll be treasuring forever! It matches my tutus so beautifully. It really goes to show that no matter how busy or stressed life gets, a little pink tutu can always brighten things up. Now I can wear it every single day and I have to say, it makes me happy!
If there is one thing I've learned, my dearies, it's that there's a reason Bath is a top travel destination. I could go back every weekend, and I wouldn’t mind if there were pink tutus in all the shop windows; my goal is, of course, to inspire everyone in Bath, to make their own dazzling pink tutu creations. And of course, I'll keep on sharing all my Pink Tutu Sparkles adventures with you, my lovely readers!
Until next time, darlings! Don't forget to wear pink and twirl to your heart's content. Keep safe and enjoy those sparkly days,
Your dearest, Pink Tutu Sparkles
