Borehamwood Calling! Pink Tutu Sparkles Goes to the Home of Film

Hello darlings, welcome to post number 194 of the Pink Tutu Sparkles blog, your daily dose of fabulousness! Today, I’m bubbling over with excitement, ready to share my whirlwind adventure to Borehamwood!

Now, you might not think of Borehamwood as the first place to spring to mind when thinking of pink tutus, glittery dreams and all things glamorous, but hold your horses! Borehamwood, just outside London, is the beating heart of British film, with a legacy going all the way back to the silent movies! They’ve got movie studios like Elstree Studios and Pinewood Studios, so it was a definite must-see on my Pink Tutu itinerary!

I love exploring the hidden gems of the British Isles – I mean, let’s face it, what’s better than finding fabulousness in the most unexpected places? Especially when it comes to travelling, there’s no journey quite like a good old-fashioned train ride. I popped on the train with my best friend, Dolly (my chihuahua and, by the way, a huge pink tutu enthusiast too!) Dolly’s actually a bit of a star in her own right, and I promise you'll see lots of photos of her fabulous pink tutu ensembles in future posts.

It was such a joy to sit back and soak up the view from the carriage window, my big pink tulle skirt practically floating on the air – I’m sure I caused a right stir amongst the commuters. (Though, to be fair, a fluffy pink tutu with rhinestones is hard to miss!)

Borehamwood was even better than I'd hoped. As a scientist by day, it was especially fun for me to see a bit of real-life filming action happening at the studios. I mean, have you ever seen them actually film scenes? There's so much to it, from set construction to all the crew – it's absolutely mind-blowing! Honestly, you should check it out if you have the chance.

I couldn't resist heading to Elstree Studios to grab a photo with a film set in the background. My friend Dolly loved having her picture taken amongst the backdrop of a historic British studio - Dolly just knows how to get that photogenic sparkle, eh? She was a right superstar!

And then there’s the pink! Oh my, I swear Borehamwood has a secret love affair with pink. I spotted everything from pink flowerbeds in local parks to even pink candy floss stands at the town fair! I almost forgot to post a pic for you darlings, I was just too busy taking in all the wonderful hues. It was just like a dreamy scene straight out of a ballet – if you’ve ever seen a ballet, you know how visually captivating those scenes can be. Speaking of which, it would have been criminal to visit Borehamwood and not visit the Borehamwood Theatre!

If there's anything better than a pink tutu and a ballet, then it’s got to be dancing in a pink tutu. So I absolutely had to put on my most spectacular pink tutu ensemble and grace the stage. I might just have snagged a small acting part - oh my, do let me know what you think of my rendition of "Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy"! Let's just say, you could feel the excitement radiating from every corner of the stage. I almost broke a nail during a quick change for the encore – those delicate tutus really make you step up your choreography, you know?

Oh, speaking of stepping it up, did I mention Dolly also managed to steal the show during the post-performance gala at the Borehamwood Arts Centre? Dolly definitely has some dance moves up her sleeve – she has such grace on the dancefloor, a total natural in her glittery pink outfit!

There’s no doubt in my mind that Borehamwood will hold a special place in my heart – it was a real blast. If you're looking for a fabulously fun and unique day out in the British Isles, add it to your travel list, darlings! You’ll definitely thank me later, especially if you get a glimpse of the beautiful park areas - the colours are practically a visual feast! Don't forget to keep those cameras at the ready – who knows what spectacular pink delights you might find.

Just remember, even if you’re not planning a trip to Borehamwood (or a show at the Borehamwood Theatre, by the way!) Don’t be afraid to experiment, don’t be afraid to let loose, and absolutely do be yourself, darlings! The world needs your sparkle, no matter how bright it might be! Until next time, wear that pink tutu loud and proud and remember: every day is a fabulous opportunity to twirl!
