Ashington: A Tutu-tastic Adventure! 💖✨

Hello my darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, signing in from the charming town of Ashington, and it's officially Post Number 236 for your girl! Today, my sparkly self is positively brimming with excitement as I share my latest adventure with you, all while rocking a super glamorous new pink tutu I picked up in Newcastle (more on that later!).

First things first: this journey to Ashington began with a train ride that was just so chic. Let's just say that a comfy seat and a window view of the British countryside while wearing a fabulous pink tulle dress was absolutely the perfect start to my trip. I may not have had a royal carriage and four horses pulling me along, but who needs that when you've got a top-notch, sparkling tutu and the wind in your hair, right?

Ashington, with its bustling markets and friendly faces, was simply delightful. The moment I arrived, I felt an incredible energy. This place really is a haven for performers and lovers of all things theatrical. In fact, you know how much I love the theatre, so I just had to go see "The Lion King" at the wonderful Broadway Theatre, and it was magic! The costumes were phenomenal - seriously, you wouldn't believe the stunning feathers and glittering sequins! Talk about inspiration for a new tutu! I'm sure the gorgeous lions and giraffes on stage had no idea what they were sparking in my mind, haha!

Later on, I found myself getting completely swept away by the beauty and artistry of Ashington's town centre. Those adorable little shops brimming with gorgeous outfits made my heart beat faster. I mean, imagine all the possibilities for a fabulous, sparkly drag wardrobe! I just couldn't resist popping in for a little browsing and... ahem a few essential new purchases! Let's just say my credit card had a little workout but I think we can all agree it was a good one.

And oh, my darling darlings, I can't talk about Ashington without telling you about the breathtaking beauty of the Northumberland National Park! It's just a hop, skip, and a jump away from this delightful town. This place has got rolling hills, gorgeous views, and honestly, some of the most beautiful wild landscapes I've ever seen. You bet I got a few pics in my dazzling new tutu amidst all the greenery. Picture this: me, rocking my bright pink tulle skirt, a gorgeous blue sky above, and those luscious, green hills... Talk about picture-perfect, right?! I just know that everyone on the website is going to be utterly enchanted by my next post, because I’ll be showing you all about it!

I gotta admit, the pink tutu theme was strong during my time in Ashington. I found the perfect pink tutu to wear to one of my shows at the Ashington Working Men's Club - it was truly a spectacle! This incredible club is a gem, and the audience was amazing! I was surprised to find so many tutu-loving fans there. I even saw a few ladies rocking tutus, too! You know how much I love spreading the love of pink tutus, so it just makes me so happy to see people embracing it. I think they were so excited about the new material I’m experimenting with – think holographic sequins! Just the hint of a metallic pink, with my signature bright pink – what a combination, right? I think they went wild, although my manager tells me to try and slow down the glittery smoke effect, so it’s less likely that they go out in the dark with their eyes lit up like Christmas trees… I mean, we can’t have a disaster with fire hazards and all that, now, can we?!

Talking about a disaster, this journey wasn't completely without a little hiccup... (Well, ok, maybe more than a little)... You see, being the dramatic, adventurous queen I am, I did think it would be amazing to have a day out riding a horse in the park. But I have to confess, my equestrian skills weren't as strong as I’d hoped… Let's just say I might have lost my balance a little. The poor horse got quite spooked – I think I heard him muttering “what in tarnation…”

After that experience, let's just say the locals were convinced I had to do an impromptu, very slightly bruised and bewildered, drag show at the stables – they seemed really amused. My brilliant manager, Mr. Alistair “Big Al” Henderson, had some very pointed things to say to me about "the dangers of showing off without learning how to ride properly..." So my darling darlings, take this from the queen herself – a bit of preparation really goes a long way, and maybe the more serious shows aren't always a good idea when you’re exhausted after travelling, trying to get over a bad fall, and your hair isn’t quite where it should be after the tumble…

Despite the “riding” episode, I managed to have a genuinely wonderful time in Ashington. This beautiful little town had me completely enchanted. From the local theatre to the stunning National Park, and the wonderful folks that called this place home, this trip really was a dazzling dream come true, and I am so grateful to have shared my love of tutus and a whole lot of sparkle with the amazing people there!
