Upminster: Tutu Adventures in the Home Counties! (Post #253)

Hiya darlings! It's your favourite Pink Tutu Queen here, ready to whisk you away to the wonderful world of twirls and sparkles. Today's adventure takes me to Upminster, a charming little town in the heart of the Home Counties. This little town might be small, but trust me, it’s brimming with enough pink-tutu-worthy fun to fill a whole week!

I love me a good train journey. So many fabulous views flit by as the wheels clickety-clack along. The train station was bustling, a kaleidoscope of commuters and eager travellers. I saw one gentleman with a fluffy dog on a lead who seemed positively thrilled to be on the platform. My Tutu-sense tells me this dog probably loves a pink tutu too!

When I arrived in Upminster, I was met with sunshine and friendly smiles. This town has a real, authentic energy, so different from the hustle and bustle of London, a bit like stepping back in time, with charming old brick buildings, cute independent shops, and a bustling market square where you can find all sorts of treats.

And speaking of treats, the bakeries were an absolute dream! My tummy just couldn't resist sampling a selection of homemade pastries from a shop with the quaintest name you ever did hear: “The Pink Cupcake Corner”. This whole town felt like a tutu-lover’s paradise, but even I was amazed at their sheer number of pink-themed cakes!

After all that sugary indulgence, it was time for a spot of shopping. A fabulous boutique caught my eye with a sign that simply said “Fancy Dresses”. Well, a queen's got to indulge! Inside, there was an entire corner dedicated to tulle - so many tutus, in every colour imaginable. I found myself a beautiful shade of lavender with sequined embellishments. You never know, maybe Upminster might get a new Pink Tutu Queen to join its ranks…

I wouldn’t be a true Pink Tutu Queen if I didn't spend some time immersed in the arts, would I? My heart was racing with excitement when I discovered the local ballet studio - a lovely, old building, painted a delicate shade of baby pink. And just as I was passing, the sweetest melody filled the air. From the window, I watched graceful young ballerinas flit and twirl to the sound of classical music. I just couldn't resist, my feet had a mind of their own, and before I knew it, I was twirling right along with them. What can I say? Ballet calls to a queen’s soul, especially one in pink, of course!

To round off the day, I was invited to perform at the town's annual summer fair! Imagine a scene from a delightful fairytale, surrounded by cheerful crowds enjoying fun fair rides, laughter echoing in the air, and that delicious scent of hot dogs. This was where my dazzling performance truly took centre stage.

I stepped onto a small, decorated stage, my Pink Tutu swirling in a whirlwind of pink perfection. The music started and I just let my inner ballerina shine! It’s funny how in this magical land of tutus and twirls, all eyes are on the pink queen, ready to catch the sparkly magic. You've got to admit, it's a pretty sweet way to spend a day.

Before leaving this delightful little town, I enjoyed a delicious evening meal with local residents, talking about everything from ballet shoes to homemade cakes to our favourite colours. And yes, as you’d expect, the colour pink popped up in most of the conversations. And it seemed my efforts in getting everyone to wear a pink tutu was certainly bearing fruit!

Now, let’s get back to the main question: can this small town win a queen’s heart? The answer, my darlings, is a resounding YES! It’s charm, the beauty of its art, the deliciousness of its cake and the friendly residents were more than enough to leave a big ol' smile on my face! Oh, and those tutus? Well, they were simply divine!
