Droitwich Darling!
Pink Tutu Sparkles' Daily Dose of Fabulous: Post 255
Oh, darlings, hold onto your tutus, because Iām about to regale you with the most exquisite tale of travel and tulle! You know I simply adore venturing to new corners of this wonderful world, and today's journey took me to the utterly delightful Droitwich.
Now, you might be thinking "Droitwich? What's there?" Well, honey, allow me to illuminate. It's a picture-perfect little town in the heart of Worcestershire, boasting cobbled streets that wouldn't look out of place in a Jane Austen novel, and a whole heap of charm. Plus, letās be real, itās totally on the way to Stratford-upon-Avon, where the Bard himself wrote his beautiful plays, and theyāve got a wonderful ballet school. So yes, darlings, the train ride to Droitwich was filled with anticipation. I canāt help but wonder, why isnāt the Shakespeare birth place more about the beauty of ballet? Anyway, on to my travels!
As ever, I couldnāt resist rocking a magnificent pink tutu. Honestly, I think the color is utterly divine. It embodies my passion, my exuberance, and frankly, my whole way of life. If you know me, you know, and if you donātā¦ well, let me explain! It all started when I was just a budding young scientist, struggling with chemical equations and the occasional burnt beaker. I was doing my masters at Sheffield Uni when I found myself unexpectedly enchanted by the grace and elegance of the university ballet club. Of course, you know I said āyesā when they asked me to try on a tutu for a charity fundraiser! Well, darlings, the rest is, quite literally, history.
So, back to Droitwich! The journey was, as always, filled with fun. It's quite an experience when you board the train looking fabulous in a pink tutu. Let me tell you, darling, people DO notice. Honestly, itās a brilliant conversation starter! I had a chat with this sweet little girl who was absolutely beaming about a unicorn toy. We spent ages discussing her favourite colours and then she squealed when she realised we both loved the colour pink! Then I spotted the cutest old gentleman reading a classic English novel. He looked a little surprised at first, but we exchanged smiles, and before you knew it, he was even doing a little shuffle to a jazz number playing on my headphones!
Anyway, I am rambling. Droitwich, honey! Oh, my darling Droitwich! Let me tell you, it truly captured my heart. Itās like a mini fairytale town! I couldn't resist twirling along the cobbled streets, basking in the sunny afternoon. It's always a thrill to have a new audience. My pink tutu seemed to brighten everyone's day. I just adore making people smile, don't you? You know, you just never know what adventures life will throw your way.
My first stop in Droitwich was, of course, a delightful boutique selling clothes. One can never have too many glittery accessories and shimmering tops. I know we can all agree on that, my dear. And speaking of shimmering, have you seen the fantastic selection of sparkly pink ballet shoes they sell here? Itās divine! Oh, darlings, if only I had the time and space to purchase all of them!
Droitwich was such a charming place to explore. I really did soak it all in! Honestly, itās one of the most gorgeous and serene places Iāve been. Even if you don't get on the train to Droitwich and get your photo taken in front of the famous Saltworks and fountain (another fabulous story, dearie) - please, oh please go have a picnic in the gorgeous parks in this area. There's something magical about being surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of a place like this.
The highlight of my day had to be the stunning ballet performance in a local school hall. The local community had organised it for a fund-raiser and, honey, let me tell you, I was speechless. Oh my, I felt like a proud mother as I witnessed such genuine talent and love for the art form. It made my heart swell. I danced and clapped and screamed with all the enthusiasm my tiny tutu could carry (oh yes, I got a tiny tear in my second favourite one this afternoon)!
Speaking of ballet, have you noticed a theme developing, darlings? You'd think I was a scientist by day and a prima ballerina by night. (That's actually not too far from the truth. You might be wondering how I manage to travel all over, with my magnificent and rather elaborate tutusā¦ well, by day I am, yes, a real-life scientist, working at a fabric testing labā¦ just trying to perfect that perfect, sparkling pink tutu! Itās intense. So intense. You have to keep up with the fashion, darling!).
Anyway, back to my adventures. You might be wondering, as I do after each trip: how on earth do I manage all this? You see, darlings, when I'm not donning a tutu and making hearts flutter on stage, I am living the rather prosaic life of a scientific analyst. It sounds boring, honey, but you can be very glam as a scientist, trust me! Now I know what youāre thinking. Well, actually, Iām not sure what you are thinking, because you can't comment here in the comments. Maybe just imagine yourself for a moment thinking: "But Pink Tutu Sparkles, darling, how? Surely, you canāt fund all this travel on a salary!"
And you are right to be so curious, dearie! However, as many of you know, life as a drag queen isn't always rainbows and glitter! Well, okay, it is mostly thatā¦ BUT there are moments when we gotta hustle! Thankfully, I am a true chameleon! Not only am I fabulous on stage, I can perform live music, do silly circus-style acts, Iāve got tons of magic tricks and can teach you everything I know about how to make perfect fairy bread (seriously, it's the secret to a good life). All this means that I am a true versatile performer and can adapt to every event. The most beautiful part is that, wherever I perform, I always find new pink tutus!
So there you have it, darlings: my tale from Droitwich! Remember, wherever you are, donāt be afraid to add a little sparkle. Be you, be loud, and above all, embrace your inner fabulousness! And who knows, you might just end up falling in love with a little town in Worcestershire! Until next time, darling, stay fabulous!
Love,
Pink Tutu Sparkles xoxo
