Hey, darling dears! It's your fabulous Pink Tutu Sparkles here, back with post number 297 from the magical, historical city of Cambridge! You all know I can’t resist a trip involving tutus, theatre and a touch of pink, so you bet your bottom dollar this one’s got it all! 😉
It was all down to a little tweet, really. A fellow drag artist mentioned a ballet class open to the public at the Cambridge Arts Theatre, right in the heart of the city. Needless to say, I was absolutely hooked. Who could resist a chance to learn from professionals in a stunning venue?
First things first: the journey! Now, you know me, I'm all about making an entrance. My darling, you’ll be surprised how many people let you skip the queues in train stations and hop straight onto the carriages when you’re wearing a pink tutu and a glittering feather boa. People seem to like seeing a splash of colour and sparkle, plus, there's always a good conversation to be had about what I’m up to, and the most surprising places to wear a tutu (it turns out, even the office!).
The train to Cambridge took us past lush rolling fields and quaint villages – pure countryside loveliness, you know? And let’s not forget the cute little market stalls with their tempting cakes and homemade goodies! This is why I love travelling by train – it's a journey, not just a trip, and I can take it all in, soak up the atmosphere, and let my inner girly girl run wild. 💖
Reaching Cambridge, my dear friends, was like stepping into a time machine. Ancient stone buildings, cobbled streets and the beautiful River Cam winding its way through it all. There’s just something truly magical about this city, full of history, culture and a distinct sense of charm.
First on the agenda – shopping, naturally! Where else could I find the perfect pink accessories to complete my Cambridge look? A dash around the markets for delicate flowers to adorn my hair, a stop at a cute little boutique for a pair of pink earrings and then, a trip to a fabulous vintage shop overflowing with silk scarves and satin gloves – you simply can’t resist a vintage feather boa to go with my tutu. I can just imagine how stylish I’m going to look on stage tonight, oh honey!
And speaking of stage, I had the most glorious time at the Cambridge Arts Theatre, that evening. We learned an excerpt from Swan Lake and had a great giggle with the rest of the class. Those graceful ballet movements, the beautiful music and the pure artistry of it all – it's simply intoxicating. It just reminds me that ballet and drag are both about expressing yourself, pushing boundaries, and having fun. You might see a tutu on me, but beneath the sparkle, I’m just a girl who wants to make you smile and dance your worries away! 😉
After the ballet class, my darlings, I had the absolute pleasure of performing at a charming little bar with an eclectic atmosphere and the warmest audience I've ever encountered! The patrons were so enthusiastic about my performance that it felt like I was performing for a thousand people. You see, sometimes the magic happens in the smaller places, where there’s a real connection and you can truly connect with the people around you.
Now, darling, you know Pink Tutu Sparkles loves to make friends on the road. I've met a wonderful group of artists here, who are just as passionate about their art as I am about mine! Sharing stories, laughs, and make-up tips is what it’s all about, don't you think? And remember, there’s a tutu out there for every body! We might be from different walks of life, but we share the same joy of celebrating ourselves and spreading our love of sparkles. ✨
I've learned so much from this trip: to embrace the simple joys of life, the magic of the everyday, and the beauty of human connection. Cambridge, darling, you've truly captured my heart.
