This time, we’re jetting off (well, more like hopping on a train - those horses can be unpredictable!), to the vibrant heart of South London, Brixton. My life is pretty much a whirlwind of tutus and glitter. By day, I'm Alex, a humble scientist in a lab, testing fabrics and all things scientific. By night, well, that’s when Pink Tutu Sparkles bursts onto the scene! This sassy, glamorous queen is on a mission to sprinkle a little bit of pink and sparkle into every corner of the world! 🧪✨👠
Now, let’s get back to the grand old city of London! It's hard to resist its charm, especially when the opportunity to grace Brixton’s stage is at hand. Brixton, with its colourful street art, its booming market, and the unmistakable thrum of its rhythm, just makes my heart beat faster! 😍
So, this past weekend, Pink Tutu Sparkles decided to trade her lab coat for a custom-made pink sequinned gown and head south, bringing along the power of glitter, good times, and, of course, a whole arsenal of pink tutus! The plan? To set the stage ablaze at a fabulous fundraiser for the local arts school, all while promoting my message – embrace the pink!
It’s always a bit of a whirlwind packing for a Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure, my darlings! There's the essential pink tutu, two backup tutus (just in case!), glitter cannons, feather boas, and oh, yes, a whole wardrobe of sparkly pink dresses, including a stunning feather-trimmed evening gown perfect for the Brixton lights! You can't forget a suitcase full of makeup (that’s another whole post in itself!), glitter, and enough bobby pins to hold all those sparkles in place! 💖
After a magical train journey – I'll tell you all about the adorable family of squirrels who shared my carriage later! - we arrived in Brixton. The air crackled with excitement, buzzing with music and laughter. You know, my darlings, Brixton always feels a little bit like a party waiting to happen.
Our stage was in a little theatre, a real hidden gem in the heart of Brixton. It was all wooden beams and old-world charm, a beautiful space that echoed with music and laughter. There was even a balcony that, honestly, just screamed ‘Pink Tutu Sparkles’!
So, we began our performance, and let me tell you, my darlings, Brixton was a receptive crowd. I sparkled, twirled, and shimmied in my pink tutu, and the energy of the audience was electrifying. It’s so important to remember, dear readers, that you never truly understand a performance until you see the way it touches an audience. They were so welcoming, so engaged – my heart was full!
Afterwards, the entire night was a flurry of meeting people, posing for photos, and answering questions. And yes, it does always amaze me how many people ask for selfies! “Selfie, Pink Tutu!” I was so flattered that everyone loved the show and the whole, 'everyone in pink tutus' idea! 😉
But the most special moment was after the show when a little girl came up to me, shyly clutching her mother’s hand. She was wearing a tiny pink tutu, so sweet! "You’re just like the ballerina on TV!” she said, her eyes sparkling with admiration. In that moment, it felt like my dream was coming true, my darlings. Spreading the love of pink and tutus, one glitter-filled performance at a time! ✨🩰
We were treated to a delectable vegan supper with all sorts of exciting colourful salads. The locals here are truly embracing their vegetable patch - so many interesting ingredients! Now, after the performance, my darling, it’s just about the train home, packing up the sparkle and all that comes with the glitter trail, and starting work again, and perhaps a little ballerina practice too - keeping the grace going!
