South Shields Sparkle! (Blog Post #342)

Oh darlings! It’s Pink Tutu Sparkles here, reporting live from the fabulous seaside town of South Shields! I’m practically bouncing with excitement! You see, today's adventure is a double whammy of sparkle and sunshine. It’s not only a beautiful December day with the air crisp and the clouds a beautiful candy floss pink, but it’s also the day I get to star in my very own performance at the gorgeous South Shields Little Theatre! I’m so thrilled – I just know it’s going to be magical.

Travel By Train - With a Tutu Of Course!

Let’s rewind a little, shall we? Because before the glamour of the stage, there was the journey! And let me tell you, this journey was truly a fashion fiesta! I, of course, made my way to the station in my signature pink – think a blush pink silk blouse, a touch of lace, and my absolute favourite bubblegum pink tulle tutu, a masterpiece with cascading layers and shimmery sparkles! Oh, and my hair? Up in a twisty, bubbly ponytail topped with a feather boa that would make a flamingo envious!

Traveling by train, especially on a crisp, winter morning like this, always fills me with joy! The sound of the wheels clicking along the tracks, the fleeting landscapes, and the gentle rocking motion are all just so… calming.

But this trip had an added dose of fun! It just so happened that my darling pal, Poppy, a fellow dance fanatic with an outrageous talent for flower crown-making, decided to join me! She came equipped with a pom-pom trimmed beanie (which matched my boa, by the way) and a bag full of colourful felt to entertain me with. (It's going to take all her time to persuade me I shouldn’t be adding pom-poms to my tutu!)

The Majestic North East!

So there we were, a couple of glittery, giggling girls heading off to conquer South Shields. And let me tell you, this region has charm like no other! It’s got those adorable little seaside cafes, with all the charming smells of fresh scones and warm tea; gorgeous historical cobbled streets with little boutiques full of beautiful treasures (I actually bought the most adorable blush pink vintage shawl from a charming shop right off the seafront); and, of course, the grand view of the ocean with the waves crashing on the shore!

It just makes you want to put on a sparkly gown and twirl in the salty breeze, right?

Meeting the Team and the Little Theatre's Charm

Once we’d gotten settled into our little hotel, Poppy and I put on our glad rags (with the cutest touch of a little tulle under my skirt – more is always more!), and headed to the South Shields Little Theatre. You know how some theatres have this sense of…stuffiness? Well, this place had magic oozing from every creaky wooden floorboard!

We were welcomed by a team of the kindest people who greeted us like long-lost friends. It felt instantly warm, a true creative hub with so much love and dedication. They were excited to have us! We met all the wonderful performers, so full of life and brimming with stage energy, and even chatted to a few of the sound technicians, who gave me the best tips for tweaking my microphone for a really clear and sparkling performance!

Showtime: It's Time To Sparkles!

Then it was showtime! The theatre was buzzing with excitement. All those lovely people, young and old, ready for a spectacle of glitter, fun and maybe a few tear-jerking moments. And I was absolutely ready to shine.

This show was all about love!

Yes, you heard that right! Love for performing, for expressing yourself, for celebrating life and just spreading a bit of sparkle. My act was a colourful whirlwind of everything I love – pink tutus, classic songs about finding joy in life, some fabulous twirling that would make any ballerina blush, and some dance moves so fun even the audience couldn’t resist getting up on their feet.

There were even special guests who brought a little added charm to the evening. There was the fabulous local tap dance troupe, the South Shields Stompers (don’t let the name fool you, they had a twinkle in their feet!), a brilliant up-and-coming musical theatre performer who sang some breathtaking Broadway classics, and even a delightful children’s choir that had everyone charmed with their beautiful singing!

But, of course, the real highlight was seeing the audience smiling and tapping their toes to my performance! Their happy faces are why I love this world of performance art. They reminded me how my aim is not just to spread sparkle, it’s about bringing joy to the hearts of others!

Dinner and the Dream of Pink Tutues

After the show, we had the most delightful dinner in this tiny restaurant near the theatre. They even brought me a *pink macaroon* to celebrate my performance – so thoughtful!

Over tea and sweet treats, we talked about the future. You know how my ultimate dream is to inspire people to wear pink tutus? (Okay, I’ll admit, it’s my personal mission!). Poppy said she had an idea. What if we were to have a big fundraiser at the next festival and give out free tutus to all the visitors, bright pink ones, of course!

My mind was swirling with excitement – oh, imagine! A world where everyone’s twirling in pink tulle! Just picturing the looks on everyone’s faces – a sprinkle of pink-tutu magic to brighten their day.

This just shows how, sometimes, when you dare to dream, it just might come true, right?

Sleeptight…and Dream in Pink!

Now, dear darlings, I’ve got to say goodnight – this pink-tutu-loving princess has to catch up on some zzzs! But before I close out this post, remember: the world needs more sparkle, so don't be afraid to spread a bit of your own! And if you feel brave, take my lead: don a tutu – be it pink or a rainbow of colours, and let your inner twinkle shine!

Goodnight from your favorite sparkly friend, Pink Tutu Sparkles!

Until our next adventure,

xoxo
