Blyth! A Pink Tutu Paradise! (Post #444)

Oh, darlings! It's your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing, queen of sparkle, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back again with another whirlwind of fabulousness! This time, I'm taking you all to the delightful seaside town of Blyth, where the wind whispers tales of pink tulle and the waves crash against the shore in a rhythmic ballet.

As you know, my love for tutus is a truly boundless thing. And my mission, should I choose to accept it (which I always do!), is to make the world a more tutu-ful place. And honestly, this lovely seaside town in Northumberland seemed like the perfect place to spread the sparkle and tulle love!

Blyth was my fourth destination on my #PinkTutuTour, which, as always, I'm funding through my glamorous drag gigs! Honestly, these past few months have been a total whirlwind. It's amazing to see how many people are truly willing to share the joy of a tutu with me! Last week I was in Edinburgh, a stunning city with such a rich artistic spirit. It truly makes me think about my own love for ballet and its graceful impact on my own personal style. Of course, in Edinburgh, I made sure to see a show at the Royal Ballet Theatre – every true queen loves a little classic ballet, don't you think?

But, I'm a true queen of all things theatrical! So, I've also been branching out! For instance, last week, I found this gorgeous vintage store just outside the Royal Mile and picked up some absolutely stunning vintage clothes. A true queen always knows that even in the world of fashion, classic and bold go hand-in-hand!

You know I also love to blend modern style with classical theatre - which is why I made sure to go to a spectacular show at the Traverse Theatre, where the play was a delightful and quirky mix of dance and performance art. It reminded me of how much I love the artistry of dance, no matter how it’s expressed. You’ve got to admit, even with all the sequins and glitter, the core of drag performance is truly about finding and presenting yourself on the stage. So when I’m back home in Derbyshire, I like to practice some classical moves! After all, who needs a barre when you’ve got a kitchen counter? It’s good to have a routine that mixes classic ballet with, dare I say, some impromptu ‘street moves.’ You'll have to trust me, every queen needs some kind of street move to spice things up, don't you think? 😉

And Blyth was simply made for the #PinkTutuTour. The town itself had a vintage charm. Honestly, I even thought the pier resembled a ballet stage! Just a few hours up from Derbyshire and the landscape totally changes. But just like in the peak district, I found a true local charm to the landscape, right down to the quaint pubs where I could enjoy some warm mead by a cosy fireplace after a day exploring the seaside! Just like with my fashion, it’s good to have a mixture of vintage style and a little bit of contemporary spirit to my trip. It’s also amazing how many locals have been interested in what I’m up to! Honestly, a lot of them love ballet, as much as I do, so we've had wonderful chats about dancing! They also absolutely adored seeing me in my fabulous pink tutu, doing my little ‘tutu twirls’ (and I can teach you all my little trick too! More on that later!).

Speaking of vintage styles! You know me, a true queen of vintage shopping, especially in a town full of fascinating history! There was this adorable little shop, right on the high street that sold the most amazing antique teacups. They're perfect for my upcoming afternoon tea party for some lovely local ballet dancers. You see, I've already started spreading the tutu love in Blyth! I’ve organised a little dance workshop! And it's been an absolute delight to watch the local ladies, who come from all ages and walks of life, twirl, dip and arabesque in a whirlwind of pinks and sparkle! I absolutely love how it’s like I’ve transported my London life right onto the north east coast. Because who can’t help but be inspired when the locals gather to dance a ballet?

As usual, my lovely followers on www.pink-tutu.com are going to love all the exciting happenings in my ‘Blyth’ blog post (I might add this to my travel section!) and seeing my ‘street-moves-in-a-tutu-dance’ videos! After all, a little pink sparkle on the Internet makes life more beautiful!

Speaking of beauty, oh my goodness, darling! You will not believe the stunning local beauty shop I found here! And, it’s just on the edge of the sea so there is nothing quite like it when I'm shopping for vintage beauty supplies! It’s full of the most amazing natural, artisanal face masks – even made with seaweed! They have also been making beautiful bespoke beauty masks! For a true queen who loves the finer things in life (and for whom a little shimmer and shine never goes astray), I just had to have a go at their fabulous creations! Of course, I used the special pink glitter as a finishing touch, which is why this post has all these lovely pictures!

And, since this is post #444, I'm going to do something special. It’s just not complete without some fabulous advice to help you get your own inner pink-tutu queen glowing:

444 Tutu-ful Tips for Every Queen!
  • Pink isn’t just for a summer party! We all know that the right pink can really make you glow all year round. For the ladies who enjoy a touch of classical sophistication (which is me!), opt for a deeper pink! In my world of tutus, that means, raspberry pink, and wine pink! Trust me, these shades are as beautiful in autumn as they are in summer!
  • Don’t shy away from bold patterns! You’ve got to love the pink on pink looks! The beauty is, that they’re always perfect, and you know you can get away with almost any mix and match! For instance, when you see my tutu on stage, you're not looking at a classic ballet style, right? I don't really care for pale pink – you've got to go for the big pink shades!
  • Dance as if no one’s watching! If your hair isn’t getting blown in the wind by the rhythm of a waltz, I just don’t think you’re dancing. But honestly, dance moves don't have to be formal. It doesn't matter if you're performing ballet at the Royal Theatre in London or simply taking some spins in the kitchen with the kids.

Well darlings, I must be off now. Blyth has so many other fascinating corners waiting to be explored and discovered by your beloved Pink Tutu Sparkles. You never know, this could become another hot spot for a little tutu love! I might have a lovely dinner planned for later, with the owner of my favourite tea shop! He told me he loved my act! That just made my night and the beginning of my week, if you know what I mean! And, for those who haven't checked in on my blog for a few weeks, I’m looking for my new favourite places. And just for you lovelies, it's an exclusive reveal! If you’re ever in the south of France and want to visit some local ballet shows, I can send you some information about how to get to my absolute favorite!

I know, it is pretty difficult not to love this pink-tutu queen’s glamorous lifestyle! Oh, and if you're not wearing a tutu at this point in the blog, go find a pink one!

Now, let me go find a pair of ballet shoes.

Love you all.

Your favourite, and only, Pink Tutu Sparkles.
