Llanelli: Tutu-ing Around the Welsh Coast!

Oh darlings, gather round! It's your Pink Tutu Sparkles here, bringing you the latest from my thrilling travels. This week, I found myself transported to the beautiful Welsh coast, specifically the charming town of Llanelli. And let me tell you, this place has been a total dream!

Now, Llanelli might not immediately conjure up images of glittery tutus and pink-hued fashion, but hear me out! It was actually the perfect spot for a fabulously girly getaway. You see, I have this love for discovering hidden gems and bringing a touch of pink sparkle to places you might least expect.

This adventure all started with a call from a local theatre in Llanelli. They'd heard whispers of my "Pink Tutu" brand of joyful mayhem and wanted me to grace their stage. I, being the ever-so-obliging queen that I am, of course said yes!

Before setting off, I couldn't help myself – I did a little outfit prep. Pink? Naturally! I picked out a magnificent sequined tulle tutu (slightly vintage, mind you) with a matching hot pink crop top and a cape that I simply adore. I like to call this ensemble "Llanelli Sunrise" – a nod to the spectacular sunrise that I imagined as I carefully packed my travel makeup bag and my essential tutu bag.

Arriving in Llanelli was like stepping into a postcard. I made my grand entrance in a most unexpected way, though. Let's just say I had a very exciting conversation with the horse owner down the street and, well, he graciously agreed to lend me a horse for a scenic tour around town. Can you imagine the delight! This town has an aura of friendly charm. And let me tell you, nothing screams β€œpink tutu fun” quite like a ride on horseback through a cobbled street.

Llanelli was an unexpected joy! I love exploring the little corners of the British Isles, especially with my faithful pink tutu at my side. We strolled along the picturesque Llanelli Promenade and popped into cute little shops for a bit of window-shopping, of course! And to my immense joy, they even have a beautiful, ancient building in town – St. Elli's Church. It stood proud and tall amidst all the charming little cottages.

Speaking of cottages, my lodgings were truly an experience! I had the absolute pleasure of staying in a darling cottage tucked away in a quiet little corner. The little patio garden with its flower-filled window boxes, and oh my, a bird bath full of bubbling water for my little feathered friends! Honestly, it felt like a charming fairy tale cottage! The walls were a dreamy pink colour and there was even a magnificent chandelier hanging in the hall - I must admit I nearly danced right through it!

One afternoon, I stumbled upon a real treat: a ballet studio tucked away in the back streets. How could I resist a ballet class? They welcomed me with open arms, so I joined them for a wonderful class, a mixture of classic techniques and graceful contemporary movements, and just had a glorious time! After all, being a drag queen is about bringing out that inner goddess, right? My favourite moment? Twirling in a grand jetΓ© in my sparkly pink tutu as I looked out at the sunlit streets of Llanelli! Oh, the joy of it all!

After my lovely ballet lesson, I grabbed a yummy pastry at a local cafe – perfect with my pot of pink herbal tea, of course! Llanelli was filled with so much loveliness, it simply called for an outfit change. For the evening's grand performance at the theatre, I donned my fabulous new ensemble – an elegant blush-pink sequined gown with a shimmering tulle overlay. The crowd absolutely adored my performance! They cheered and applauded throughout. And let me tell you, it was all so wonderfully charming, even the stage lights shone a little bit pinker for me.

Llanelli has truly captured my heart, you guys! The town, with its history, friendly faces, and little gems around every corner, was a real dream. And you know, if a pink tutu can find joy and fun in Llanelli, it can find joy anywhere! And honestly, if you ever get the chance, you absolutely have to check this little Welsh coastal gem out for yourself! It will enchant you just as it did me!

I know some of you might wonder, why does Alex – who's just a science geek by day, even bother with all of this? I’ll tell you. Sometimes, the simplest things in life can have the greatest impact. Remember how I told you about that pink tutu that made me fall head over heels for drag? It started when I was in uni studying science. We were doing a charity event, and I put on that fluffy tutu – and well, I was a drag queen right then and there! It's a love that has grown, one pink, sequined tulle skirt at a time!

Until next time, remember, keep your sparkle close, be your true selves and never be afraid to let your fabulous pink tutus fly!

Lots of love and lots of twirls,

Pink Tutu Sparkles (Alex)
