Oh my darlings, what a glorious day it is to be alive! I'm practically bursting with excitement – Frome, here I come! Today's post, my fabulous 491st blog post on the ever-growing www.pink-tutu.com, is a celebration of this gorgeous little town, the delicious promise of the theatre, and the utterly joyous thrill of a train journey. Oh, and did I mention tutus? Of course, I did! I just can't help myself, a pink tutu is the key to unlock a world of fabulousness, and that's just what we're doing today.
My lovely readers, if you've been with me on this delightful journey for a while, you'll know I'm a girl who loves a good adventure, especially if it involves a a train ride. Something about the rhythm of the tracks, the fleeting glimpses of green fields and bustling towns, and the gentle swaying of the carriages fills my heart with glee. And the sheer magic of a journey - where will the next stop lead me, what sparkly surprises await? My life, like my wardrobe, is all about embracing the unexpected and I wouldn't have it any other way!
Now, you might be wondering what exactly brought me to the delightful town of Frome. It's a beautiful little spot, you see, with an enchanting mix of traditional charm and a vibrant artistic spirit. They are renowned for their craft workshops and galleries and this month they are holding a stunning dance festival with some truly wonderful talent lined up! And me, oh I'm bursting with excitement.
I've heard there's going to be a live performance by the "Frome Ballet Company" - imagine the beauty and the grace! They've been rehearsing since February for a performance that is truly magical! They've put in hours and hours of practice to make it truly perfect and it really captures the true joy of dance. Oh, and the best bit - I get to see it all, from the best seat in the house. This is why we do all this, to experience the wonderful art forms that exist in the world!
Speaking of wonderful, I’ve got myself all dressed up to impress. Think a beautiful pink and gold number. A floor length dress covered in pink sequins and finished off with a fluffy, layered, tulle pink tutu. Because after all, the ultimate pink-tutu moment needs a stage, doesn’t it? I’ve also paired my outfit with a fabulous feathered pink feather boa for that touch of regal elegance, my trusty pair of pink stilettos and, of course, my signature sparkly pink headband for extra glamour.
Did I mention I’ve got a fantastic new bag I can’t wait to show off. My local shopping center has just reopened after being refurbished. They have a new independent shoe and accessories store - they also do hair, nails and even facials. I knew instantly that it would be the perfect spot for my last-minute shopping spree.
I do have a talent for finding fabulous, stylish accessories - that’s why my bag matches my shoes! It’s a shimmery, almost rainbow pink - imagine the sparkle. I call it my "Glitter Bomb," as it reflects a rainbow of colors and attracts more than a few envious looks.
It is important to know your limits though. As a drag artist, I like to embrace both the feminine and the masculine. This often means experimenting with fashion - I don’t shy away from adding a pair of knee-high lace up combat boots, just for a little bit of extra ‘oomph.’ You can have it all! Pink tulle and boots? Why not, there’s an edge of coolness and rebellion that adds to the overall effect.
As I said, the thrill of travelling always gets me thinking about life in general. As the world continues to move and shift around us, it's a reminder that life is all about taking risks and striving for the things we truly believe in. The journey of Pink Tutu Sparkles is no different.
After all, it was a pink tutu that sparked this entire magical journey. When I first tried it on at a university fundraiser a few years back - for our local ballet school. I was in love. It was a moment of true joy. It was pure, unadulterated, sparkly brilliance. My inner diva had arrived. There were a lot of confused glances in my science lab after my university performance - my co-workers had never seen a pink tutu before in such a daring context, and to be fair, most people in Derbyshire never do. It's more a fleece and welly place. They’d never been exposed to the real glam-power of pink tulle and certainly not a sparkly one! However, now they have! It is a good thing too! As many people are finding, the only way to face the world, is with a touch of glamour.
You see, I wasn't always Pink Tutu Sparkles. Underneath the pink fluff, the feathers, and the sparkle, you'll find a scientist. Don’t let this confuse you, as science can be beautiful! The lab work can be exciting too when you’re working with something like fabrics! We can make beautiful designs for all sorts of applications. But by night, I swap my lab coat for a magnificent pink tutu and get ready for my performance. I take that same dedication and love of science and I pour it all into my performance - I don't think the stage will have me, as my passion for a truly fantastic spectacle is very infectious! And it is that infectious nature of a vibrant performance, I hope it inspires people. It doesn’t have to be just a dance performance. Whether it's playing music, singing, or creating something beautiful like a piece of art. We all have a story to tell.

As I get ready to jump off this lovely train, the town of Frome welcomes me with open arms and a vibrant spirit of fun! There are festival flags all around - what a perfect example of the joy that I like to spread around.
I've got my schedule mapped out for today and tomorrow: first stop is the market to find something special, as a souvenir of my fabulous adventure. My collection of souvenirs, in various pink shades, tells my journey - like a beautiful fabric sampler for the history of a fashion student! Perhaps I'll find some sparkly accessories or a pink vintage brooch that will bring a little touch of "Frome Magic" into my everyday life!
Next, I'm heading to that fabulous art gallery to get my culture fix. Who knows what kind of amazing art will spark my imagination, and who knows where those artistic ideas might lead?
Oh, I have an even more fabulous day ahead - the most thrilling part will be watching those ballerinas gracefully dance across the stage in their dazzling costumes. My plan is to watch them and learn - a little of that beautiful ballet will sneak into my own style of performing.
