Blyth: A Whirlwind of Pink Tutu Joy!

Hello darlings! It's your favourite Pink Tutu Sparkles here, back from another fabulous adventure, ready to share all the pink-tastic details with you! Today's post marks a whopping number 702, can you believe it?! And yes, you're reading correctly – Pink Tutu Sparkles is in Blyth! I know, I know, not the first place you think of for a glam queen like me, but believe me, this little town in Northumberland has won my heart.

The journey here was an adventure in itself, I chose to travel by train, of course! It's such a lovely way to take in the countryside, all the sheep, cows, and even a few fluffy bunnies (thankfully no fox-es! shudders). I packed my most voluminous tutu, a gorgeous hot pink confection with shimmering sequins and fluffy layers of tulle, for the journey. The station was a little bit underwhelming, I mean, compared to King's Cross station, it's practically a whisper in a library. But it had character and a quaint little cafe, so points for that!

Arriving in Blyth, I was instantly enchanted. The streets were full of character – independent shops, cosy cafes, and a bustling market. It felt a bit like stepping into a nostalgic postcard, only brighter and more joyful!

And speaking of joy, my main reason for venturing to Blyth: a performance at the local theatre. Now, the Blyth Playhouse may not be the Royal Opera House, but it holds a special place in my heart! I'd heard from a fellow drag artist about this charming venue and, well, any excuse to perform in a fabulous tutu, right?

The stage was modest, with beautiful red velvet curtains and warm, inviting lighting. It was the perfect setting for my show, a whimsical journey through the history of ballet and my love for tutus!

Before my performance, I indulged in a delightful afternoon of exploration. Blyth's coastal location gave the air a freshness and saltiness, making me feel rejuvenated! The shops were a delightful mix of classic and quirky, with an incredible vintage boutique that had me wanting to stay for hours (I'm afraid my wallet was feeling a little neglected that day!)

But my real passion in life (other than pink tutus, obviously), is ballet. I couldn't visit a new place without getting my ballet fix, so I sought out a local studio and landed myself in an impromptu class! It's truly the most delightful experience to share the art form I love so much with a whole new set of people. It doesn't matter where I go, there's always an instant connection through ballet, and that's what I adore!

Now, back to the show! The Blyth Playhouse crowd was phenomenal. They cheered, they clapped, they even sang along! And let me tell you, there is nothing quite like a supportive audience to make a queen sparkle!

The finale of the performance involved, you guessed it, a magnificent pink tutu, this time with dazzling embellishments and a dramatic swirling design. It was a spectacular sight and a fitting end to a truly fantastic evening.

But my Blyth adventures weren't finished!

The following day I took a walk along the Blyth Harbour, which was just as delightful as the market. The air was full of seagulls (which might not seem delightful but hey, I find everything charming!) and the water glistened under the morning sun. I had a delicious picnic overlooking the water, topped with my absolute favourite: pink strawberries, of course!

Before leaving, I took one final spin through the vintage boutique (and my wallet cried a little, but happily!). It was just the kind of place to discover a truly unique and quirky piece. And, surprise surprise, a little pink tulle bow tied with a charm was calling my name!

Blyth may be a little town in the north of England, but it definitely captured my heart with its friendly locals, quaint atmosphere, and endless supply of inspiration! Now, don’t get me wrong, this wouldn’t be Pink Tutu Sparkles without a little pinch of glam, so of course, I made my own unique pink tutu-infused touch to this lovely town! And that, dear readers, is a secret I will be revealing tomorrow, as a little treat for you all! Until then, keep twirling, and remember, every day can be a fabulous ballet!

Now, for today's secret!

Okay, here's a little peek into the Pink Tutu Sparkles touch to Blyth. It was a glorious day, and after a little morning walk, I popped into the local library, a beautiful, historic building (imagine the stories those walls could tell!). They were having a community arts festival, and, guess what? There was an adorable kids craft table!

So what did Pink Tutu Sparkles do? drumroll

I bought up a massive stack of pink ribbons and taught all the little ones how to make their very own pink tutus! It was pure chaos but oh, the smiles on their faces were priceless! Seeing these kids wearing tutus, whether they were made out of toilet paper or silky ribbons, felt like a triumph! And who knows? Maybe I've sparked a lifetime love for ballet and tutus in a few of those kids. It’s about inspiring a bit of joy and letting everyone experience the magic of the pink tutu, that’s my ultimate mission!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to catch a train. It’s not going to be long before you see another pink tutu-tastic adventure pop up here on my website, pink-tutu.com. See you all tomorrow!
