Hello my loves, it’s Pink Tutu Sparkles here, bringing you post number 840! Today, I’m beaming with excitement – I'm finally in Chester, a city bursting with history, charm, and enough architectural marvels to make even the most jaded fashionista blush! As soon as I got off the train (ahem, let's just say the carriage ride was decidedly more glamourous than the journey I had to endure on the way, I think I got some lipstick on a few passengers...sorry!), I felt that unmistakable spark. I knew Chester was the place to be, a stage set just for my sparkly arrival.
Now, let’s talk about my look! It’s practically screaming “I’m ready to take on Chester!”. I'm sporting a custom-made tutu with layers and layers of the most exquisite, rose-coloured tulle you've ever laid your eyes on, it practically shines with its own inner light. It’s paired with a hot pink corset top, oh-so-tight, it defines my figure and makes me feel positively majestic. And, of course, I’m wearing a tiara that makes me feel like a princess...of sparkle, that is!
I actually went with a “pastel-punk” theme today. It’s like my signature pink and sparkly meets a bit of that rock ‘n’ roll attitude you get from the Chester music scene! Because Chester is, after all, a place where history and cool converge. That’s my aim - to blend vintage charm with modern edge in every outfit I wear. Just look at my boots! They’re platforms with little buckles, a perfect match for my sassy energy!
Now, I wouldn't be true to my name without a little mention of my true passion, the ballet! And lucky for me, Chester boasts the Dance Centre right in the heart of town. After my tour through the historic rows, and let me tell you, the buildings are just enchanting - so full of character! - I decided to try my luck with an impromptu drop-in at the dance centre. I waltzed in with my Tutu in full bloom and to my joy, they welcomed me with open arms!
It was like I stepped back in time - except everything was wonderfully sparkly, of course. Imagine the delicate, tinkling music, the soft wood floor... and those fantastic mirrored walls. Let me tell you, it made me want to whirl around in my tutu, with every muscle and every sequin gleaming. It was glorious! The other dancers were lovely, and they were so excited when they saw me in my pink tulle glory. After a fun afternoon of learning a few routines with these lovely ladies, my feet may have been aching a little, but I was filled with inspiration. I absolutely love meeting other artists and getting inspired by their artistry!
*Speaking of artistry, I decided to add a bit of my own performance art to Chester's streets. * Let's face it, darling, my pink tutu and I can't go anywhere without causing a stir! And what better place than a lively market to spread some TutuQueen magic?
Oh my heavens, the market was so full of energy. There were the stall owners, brimming with life, offering everything from handcrafted pottery to the most gorgeous fresh fruits I’d ever seen! The scent of delicious pastries floated through the air, drawing me in, and you could hear music playing everywhere, I mean everywhere! The market was the embodiment of all that Chester has to offer. But don't think for a minute that Pink Tutu Sparkles arrived without a plan!
I started my show with a dance routine - a mix of elegant moves from the ballet classes and a bit of high-energy sass that I whipped up in the studio back home in Derbyshire. I could see those eyebrows raised, but soon they transformed into wide smiles as people watched with a sense of genuine wonder. A little boy started clapping and bouncing along, and a lady in a straw hat with flowers started swaying to my dance moves, even some people were trying to copy my movements! I ended the dance routine with a perfect "twirl" (well, a near-perfect twirl - almost hit a basket of peaches but let's not focus on that), a graceful bow and a flourish of my pink feather boa, then proceeded to engage with the market crowd.
I started with a song – a joyful, sassy piece that had the whole market tapping their feet! I danced around, laughing and singing with every single person. Then, I decided to teach the market folk the TutuQueen spin! (a combination of ballet and rock n’ roll which is sure to make your inner Sparkle shine). We all spun and whirled, making that glorious, airy tulle swish and sway. For that moment, the entire market, filled with its shoppers, became an explosion of pink!
Everyone just wanted a photo with the TutuQueen. The photoshoots started on the strawberry stall, a family even posed me on a chair right next to the roasted chestnuts! And can you believe, I managed to convince a grumpy looking gentleman to spin with me in his overalls! By the end of it, I felt a surge of happiness. I could feel the twinkle of those smiles across every face, I could feel the positive energy flowing in the air... I managed to share that with a whole crowd and what better feeling can there be?!
Speaking of sharing, my dear, I have some news. As I’m about to leave Chester, it’s time to spill a secret! After weeks of searching and testing, I'm finally launching my very own pink tutu shop in Derby - TutuDreams! I'll be creating beautiful, unique tutus with fabrics so soft you'll want to bury yourself in them.
